[Day 1 - EN] Hole in One [RP Thread]

[Togashi Keigo]

"Oh, yes, there are several dances that have at least one participant seated. I am told by some of my more martially inclined cousins that it is like hanmi handachi and suwari waza.

"But it's so sweet of you to say we should dance amid beauty!" She looks at him fuller in the face, smiles broadly. "But isn't there beauty to be found most everywhere?"

"Ah! I see now. That makes sense. I've never seen anything like that, so I'd be curious to see once we have a little more room," he replied warmly. "Is it sweet? I just thought it would suit you. There is, but there are some places where it takes less effort to search for it than others."

[Bayushi Shitoru]

Hanatsuko nodded. "I am yet to go but it is my plan for tomorrow night. Tonight I am to be merry at this place"

"Is there such a need? Be what Toritaka-san must be, if that is quiet and out of the party then so be it. Our duty is more important than a party, is it not?"

Hanatsuko shook her head. "Part of being a good hunter and a dutiful samurai is assessing the territory and scouting for potential allies. Bayushi sama. This gathering is one of such assessment. It can show fruitful in gathering information. You have gathered some of mine maybe I should gather some of yours." The Toritaka smiled.

[Doji Yuma]

The Kakita nods knowingly about conflicting wisdom from the ancients. Hey. I heard that.

"In this case an actual cousin, more or less. My mother's brother is married to Daidoji Yushoko's aunt, so although we aren't close, father was most insistent that we be here. Well, that I be here on behalf of our family." The bushi looks like he was about to say more, but stops and then smiles politely. "And what brings you to be part of our clan's delegation, Doji-san?"

"I was just sent here as spiritual and mundane support for our artists. In truth it was very much a last minute arrangement. My apprenticeship in Dragon lands had been abruptly cut short by the delicate political situation there, so I suddenly became available for other tasks.

Do you know if you're Yushoko's closest family member here? Does that mean you'll have to assist with the ceremony proper? Or maybe it'll be a very private thing, with just the couple, the priest and the nakodo?"

"I'm not too familiar with what goes on in a duel," she murmured with a hand on her cheek before scratching the back of her neck. "Is a duel something that you can walk away from after losing? Would you get many chances to learn and duel again afterwards? I thought people just sort of disappear about losing one."

"Depends on the type, eh?" she shifted how she held herself, shifting one arm over the other as she held her arms high over her chest. "Some you do- some you don't, and it's not really an art you.. practice, but you do, and you don't," she shrugged. "The rules are a little-" she glanced around again, smirked. "Well, guess I should be a little careful with other attendees present, eh? Some might take offense to a little.. flippancy," she waved her hand and dismissed that thought.

"Then again-" she chuckled to herself. "I haven't performed in one yet, eh? Maybe people do just-" she raised her arms as if to be a little more spooky, "disappear!" she exclaimed with a bit of exaggeration, laughing as she did.

He nods, taking note. The Bayushi was hard to read, specially since his appearance was made for that exact purpose. This made the Crane feel cornered. "There was actually more to the song of earlier. It was just a part of a poetry to seven great heroes, one from each clan."

She leans in closer to Keigo to better hear his answer. There is a lot going on in the Hole, after all.

"Oh..." Yue murmured with a bit of disappointment in her tone, not getting the whole answer. However, how was Yoko supposed to know. She narrowed her eyes on her as she did also wonder if she was also mocking her. Then again, she was the one who brought up the disappearing idea. Ronin also appeared and often disappeared too, didn't yet?

She slouched slightly, "In that case, is that even something you hope you get the opportunity to practice or not?"

He unconsciously leaned in a little, following her lead. "Yes... Dragon lands can be very stark, but I can't think of a single place that isn't beautiful. Whether it's the stark, craggy, snow-capped peaks or steep meadows that are strewn with wildflowers in the spring. I love it when it's snowing, especially, and the whole world seems muted as you can watch the whole landscape spread out below and around becoming more and more white, and you can just see a few distant lights from huts or a temple tucked away in a mountainside."

He looked to Yuuwaku, smiling, his fondness for his homeland and enjoyment of their conversation written across his face. He seemed to almost forget about the loud party around them. "What about in Crane lands?"

'' I could certainly do such a thing, Moshi Minari-sama.'' She nods. '' Don't know if a dancing performance would be really what your captain would be looking for out of this one, it is not really my forte and although i know how to do so this one is certain there are far more experienced dancers out here. But singing is something this one is more confident in doing, Moshi Minari-sama.'' She adds with another nod.

The Mantis priestess seemed thoughtful, as if she was thinking of something more than just the current conversation. "Someone who can sing better than a drunken sailor is going to be more than welcome. You know, why don't you drop by our ship The Sea Fox tomorrow at some point, and we'll work out a proper payment for your services... and well, see if there's any other jobs we can offer you while we're here. How's that sound?"

But there is nothing quite like the sunrise over the boundless sea, or the sunset over the green fields on a summer evening, the gentle gray of a springtime rain or the burning colors of the autumn leaves, falling like little bits of fire on a chilly day."

Her eyes sparkle in the light. "It makes a person appreciate the warmth of good company in the evenings."

Masao grimaces. "Hida-dono has invited a few of us to participate in a... Regular, local custom. Apparently." A larger grimace.

He nodded as he listened. "I'd like to see those someday. A beautiful moment for every season. And yes... Those sorts of places make me want to sit and just enjoy them for a while, but there's a wonderful warmth to returning to good company and a warm mood." A ghost of a grown crossed his face, but he shook it off quickly.

[Ikoma Ren]

Ren raises his glass. "We all win when I'm there to record it"

"You are not the only one who records events, Ikoma-san." she raised her cup. "I'll admit, however, that I don't usually note the details of drinking contests. Who would you say is the strongest competitor?"

"That's a tough one to answer." Ren muses, staring at his cup in thought. "When it comes to straight up tolerance, I think the Crab are second to none. In my experience though, people who join in contests are after something when they agree, and they usually get it: comradery with friends, the eye of a paramour, approval from one's superiors. Losing a drinking contest and then your opponent being unable to attend court because they're too hungover is a win for some"

"My clan is neighbor to both Crane and Crab, we have an interest in the peace of this region", he answered. "For years their battles have disrupted trade."

This one would hate to disturb your, or any other samurai, duties with an improper untimely apearance, Moshi Minari-sama'' She properly asked for when it was a good time to go and visit the ship.

Masao pauses thoughtfully. "I have some doubt about the dignity with which the task shall be accomplished, but Doji-san is quite correct. We knew the Crab would test us here. We are all making sacrifices for the sake of this marriage. But it is the duty, and even more so the right thing to do. Setting aside the sword that has seen too much battle of late, and taking up instruments of peace."

Masao takes a deep drink of the shochu, probably an unwise amount, but shows no strong reaction to it. "One discomforting spectacle is hardly enough to shake the dedication of an Iron Warrior," he says with a grin. "Or of any Crane, neh? Perseverance and perfection, in the name of Lady Doji," the bushi says, slightly raising his cup toward the other Crane.

[Ichiro Taiki]

“Good maybe you can beat Yancho-sama, his luck has to run out at some time. Roll the dice get the best hand, and the loser buys the drinks. Simple,” he older samurai responded.

“You roll first new blood.”


Yancho for his part just smiled and said, “Go easy on the man, he’s family.”

He got the dice sure Yancho was much more 'skilled' in such things - sure he had plenty of time to train in such things, at the Hole even, yeah? - and he rolled without any hope, just for the sake of completing the game, and was thoroughly unsurprised by the results.

"So seems like I owe ye folks o round, eh?", he said, grin growing a bit on his lips as he raised his hand to ask the staff for drinks.
