Yuma only took a very small sip of sake before answering:

"The ancients do not agree on that point. We tell the tale of heroes to remind ourselves that we also can be great would say one. A great general accepts none of the credit, and all of the blame would say another. Guess it all depends on the situation. In the present one there is definitely no shame in quietly departing after having accomplished one's host duties indeed.

But you say cousin... Do you share a grandparent with the bride? Or is this more in the general sense of 'a fellow Crane'?"

The Kakita nods knowingly about conflicting wisdom from the ancients. Hey. I heard that.

"In this case an actual cousin, more or less. My mother's brother is married to Daidoji Yushoko's aunt, so although we aren't close, father was most insistent that we be here. Well, that I be here on behalf of our family." The bushi looks like he was about to say more, but stops and then smiles politely. "And what brings you to be part of our clan's delegation, Doji-san?"

[Kitsuki Tanaka]

"Well, at the time of falling it'd be just two. Though that is still one more then plenty." He replied clearly amused at it all. "I suppose the real decision would be if you could accept letting the second ship rescue you and thus miss a few steps."

"Riding may be preferable to walking." He agreed thoughtfully. "Though from what I understand it's a bit of a pain to get used to." Not that he really was an expert there. "So likely best i stick to walking, especially if Dragon lands are on my list of destination."

Tanaka frowned a little at that, "...perhaps one should start east to west before north."

Her smile returned soon enough, "Hmm I suppose one would have to just restart at the back of the second ship." She rubbed her chin in thought, "As for the riding....well much the same has been said about sailing, at least for those who actually know how to work a ship."

She shrugs, "Of course I have done neither so perhaps I should refrain from claiming knowledge of the challenges."

[Moshi Minari]

The ronin took out her fan, she didn't open it, but gently posed it on her lips trying to 'hide' a slight smile that formed on Amika's face. '' It is nothing that this one would hide, Moshi Minari-sama.'' She said somewhat amused by the thought. '' This one is an artist. I have some talents in painting, focused on sumi-e style. This one is also trained in calligraphy and currently trying to learn the written language of the Courts.'' She adds.

'' This one has also picked some other forms of art here and there, including ikebana, singing, traditional dancing and the art of the sword, but they are not my specialty, Moshi Minari-sama.'' The ronin explained.

"A courtly wolf?" she chuckled a little with surprise, indicating for Amika to sit with her and drink. "That's an unusual sight. At least to me. I wouldn't think that such artistic sensibilities would look for work in Crab lands, though. Any luck so far?"

[Ichiro Taiki]

"You playing or just watching," an older Crab said looking at the Badger.

"It depends", the Badger says, stepping closer. "What are you playing? And what are the stakes?"

[Amika]

"A courtly wolf?" she chuckled a little with surprise, indicating for Amika to sit with her and drink. "That's an unusual sight. At least to me. I wouldn't think that such artistic sensibilities would look for work in Crab lands, though. Any luck so far?"

Amika bows '' With your permission then, Moshi Minari-sama '' and then sat right next to centipede mantis samurai. '' Well, this one already has two jobs to do, though one was more or less an exchange of services. '' She explain to the mantis. '' Currently this one is researching how to proceed with the jobs in the best way possible.'' She adds.

[Dapper Dog]

"It depends", the Badger says, stepping closer. "What are you playing? And what are the stakes?"

"It's dice and the wager is booze, loser buys the table drinks," the old man barked.

"In or out?"

"Sailing I'll admit isn't for everyone. One of the passengers we had on the way down spent most of the time miserable and at the railings." It wasn't the sort of thing the Captain had failed to notice. "I don't know if riding works exactly the same way, but it it does it certainly could be difficult for some." He was likely included in that number.

[Yue]

"Nope," she shook her head. Bringing a hand back up to her chin, rubbing it with her thumb. "My mom did once, far as I remember. Still, when she was teaching me how to," she laughed, putting her other hand on her daisho, giving it a little shake, "play with metal sticks, she made sure I knew the rules if it ever happened. A Ronin doesn't have anyone but themselves so, best to learn how to defend yourself in all the ways that matter, eh?"

"You haven't and you've never?" she said curiously as she knit her brows together, a bit perplexed. "If it's something you're offering to your employers and the time comes, that would make it a rather steep test wouldn't it? That's pretty risky."

[Otomo Saisei]

Himeko looked thoughtful for a moment before bringing her fan up to her face.

"So I shouldn't be concerned if I were to enter the wards? What do you think would happen to me Otomo-sama?" Himeko tilted her head, studying the boy curiously with her eyes just above her fan looking at him. "Will I explode? Or just experience strange sensations? Or perhaps a feeling of being welcome?"

"I would only think highly of you. Yet, honor is both internal and external. To that we are our own judges, as well as the Heavens." He takes another sip, looking attentively at her eyes while the potential fight in the background soothes down.

"You look like you would explode into a rainbow of delightful sensations. A very welcoming experience, no?"

[Yoko]

"You haven't and you've never?" she said curiously as she knit her brows together, a bit perplexed. "If it's something you're offering to your employers and the time comes, that would make it a rather steep test wouldn't it? That's pretty risky."

"Suppose, but my mom, the woman who trained me, said I'm quick with my blade and that's what's most important when it comes to it. Not the kind of thing most hire on for, eh? Just.." she shrugged, "well, everyone has to get their start somewhere. Not a lot of folk want a ronin dueling for them and I've only got a handful of years under my belt alone out here," she shrugged.

“Good maybe you can beat Yancho-sama, his luck has to run out at some time. Roll the dice get the best hand, and the loser buys the drinks. Simple,” he older samurai responded.

“You roll first new blood.”


Yancho for his part just smiled and said, “Go easy on the man, he’s family.”

"Here at this village will they study? I understand there is a Kuni here, a court physician I believe."

"I doubt that Kuni sama will have time to teach my sister. I am just scouting...I was supposed to meet with my friend in Shiro Kuni... and I seemed to overshot and ended up here. I sent him a letter telling him about my mishap." She nodded. "If the spiritual activities start here she probably will be sent to investigate. I would like to see if it is true."

[Bayushi Shitoru]

"Ah, perhaps you speak.of the legend of the shore, have you been as yet?"

"Oh really? And who do the enigmatic and aloof Dragon consider more of a threat than the Crab these days? I'm woefully out of the loop when it comes to clan politics. We have bigger concerns on the Wall so that stuff sort of just falls to the wayside." He said with a laugh pouring a cup of shochu and offering it to the Dragon before taking a swig from the bottle.

"Now, that would be telling, now wouldn't it? Still, there are some obvious ones; The Lion still do not like that we protect the Dragonfly lands, for instance. And certainly with the tensions between the Lion and Crab, both Clans are interested in having the Dragon lands on their side since we share such long borders... certainly anything south of that pot boiling over is like another world to those in the mountains."

[Yue]

"Suppose, but my mom, the woman who trained me, said I'm quick with my blade and that's what's most important when it comes to it. Not the kind of thing most hire on for, eh? Yue gave a few nods as she gave a glance around the room, merely glancing at a few faces here and not lingering too long to be suspected of staring, "So it's really just something you know rather than do, then? That makes sense and with the Crane province nearby, it seems everyone here might already have a duellist on hand than to need a duellist specifically. I just find it a bit strange to have a skill that you haven't gotten experience or use out of yet but I'm probably just thinking of the immediate future. I'd like to think that I use everything I know as often as possible."

That makes sense and with the Crane province nearby, it seems everyone here might already have a duellist on hand than to need a duellist specifically. I just find it a bit strange to have a skill that you haven't gotten experience or use out of yet but I'm probably just thinking of the immediate future. I'd like to think that I use everything I know as often as possible."

"Comes with working with the sword, eh? Not too much of a leap, just.. takes some time to learn all the rules that matter. How better to position yourself," she waved her hand about, shaking her head. "Anyway, my mom was adamant I learn. Always felt it was important and she's never directed me wrong. Rest of it though.. not a lot of skills I do have a hand for, I suppose, but guess I just make up for it with my willingness to bleed and sweat a little, eh?"

"Hmm... so you say you do some singing and dancing? That might be of interest for an easy job for you. Since our ship's docked here for until after the wedding, the captain wants to throw some party in the coming days - you know, add to the celebrations and show how the children of Osano-wo party. Sounds like a job you'd be interested in?"

[Yue]

"I'm not too familiar with what goes on in a duel," she murmured with a hand on her cheek before scratching the back of her neck. "Is a duel something that you can walk away from after losing? Would you get many chances to learn and duel again afterwards? I thought people just sort of disappear about losing one."

[Toritaka Hanatsuko]

"Ah, perhaps you speak.of the legend of the shore, have you been as yet?"

Hanatsuko nodded. "I am yet to go but it is my plan for tomorrow night. Tonight I am to be merry at this place"

"As for advice. Ginger in a tea or raw can be a good way to help, it calms the stomach and helps some with the nausea." Or thats what he had been told. "Other then that stay towards the center of the vessel but out of the way. Drink plenty of water and avoid rich foods."

'' Don't know if a dancing performance would be really what your captain would be looking for out of this one, it is not really my forte and although i know how to do so this one is certain there are far more experienced dancers out here. But singing is something this one is more confident in doing, Moshi Minari-sama.'' She adds with another nod.

"As for advice. Ginger in a tea or raw can be a good way to help, it calms the stomach and helps some with the nausea." Or thats what he had been told. "Other then that stay towards the center of the vessel but out of the way. Drink plenty of water and avoid rich foods."

"Are rich foods something one often gets on a ship? I would have figured it similar to campaign food, all preserved fish and dried vegetables." She taps her cheek, "Though come to think on it, at sea the fish could be gathered easily enough one assumes. Perhaps even to the point of excess."

Tanaka smirked, "Actually how does the food here fare against your sea rations?"

"It's more a worry for what kind of condiments you use, as well as how much you may partake in drink." He raised his empty cup.

"You're right though about fresh seafood being readily available, and plentiful usually. Not that you don't eat your fair share of dried and pickled foods to. Cooking isn't exactly something you do often on a ship if you can avoid it."

"In comparison its better on shore, if nothing else just for pure variety."
