Sen’s father, Hiruma Saito, is a well-regarded wilderness expert and scout in service to the Lord of the castle, which has put high expectations on the younger Hiruma to live up to Saito’s example.

While he dresses in Crab colors he still wears a mask as a sign of his original heritage. His invite comes because his wife is related to the grooms family.

Torturer of Kuge, Murderer of Abbots, kicker of puppies, thrice damned by the lotus sect, the list of horrible and twisted titles attached to this nightmare of a man goes on, one who has broken most of the people he has been called to question with his name alone and his white Oni mask.

The Crane almost consider him an urban legend, until one day they find their district has a new magistrate, someone returns covered in bruises for a seemingly minor misdemeanour and the legend becomes frighteningly, terrifyingly real.
Once they find out he is real, the next questions come in quick succession - who is next, how badly will they suffer, and why.
Like lightning in a storm, misdemeanours at seemingly random will be punished as far as the law will let him, until the province reaches seemingly acceptable levels. And then, as if he didn't exist, the cloud over the district drifts away, taking the shadow with it.

And yet, at the same time, his list of enemies is surprisingly short, publicly nonexistent even, for a man of such a reputation. Stories sure, but none short of glory hounds have ever seemed to come for his head.

This would be one of his first appearances outside of Crane lands, so for those who know of him will be interested to what he will do, especially in something as beautiful as a wedding.

A lot of questions surround such a man - some it would be wise to ask, others not.
-How much of the stories are real?
-Is there anything left behind the mask?
-If there is, what does he want and what does he like?
-Surely, the Crane keep him around for some reason - why?
-More importantly, how can such a thing exist in the Crane legal system?
-By what great misfortune or twist of fate is this evil invited to something so peaceful and joyous as a wedding?
-Does the man - can the man - have romantic interests himself?

Kakita Konohmaru will be staying at the Blue Birds inn, alongside other Crane. While the mask is off, the man seems amiable and approachable enough...

[Togashi Keigo]

Keigo emerged from the Dragon Mountains a few months ago, his first time away in his 22 years. The amount of disconnect from that and his monk training is obvious. He can be a little bit distant, often more wrapped up in studying some action of nature or the interplay of the elements somewhere that paying close attention the people around him. Despite that, he is not aloof, more than willing to engage with others once brought out from whatever thoughts are occupying him at the time. In fact, he is eager to interact with those of other Clans, and has a strong thirst to learn, wanting to understand their approaches to problem solving especially.

He's fairly tall and strong, with long, dark hair that's clearly gone uncut for many years from its length. Tattoos of the ocean and of flame adorn his arms, clearly with more room waiting for the design to cross his back with more elements. It's particularly obvious, given that he's usually only dressed in the lower half of a monk's outfit. He has a calm demeanor, but often looks at least a little tired, dark circles attesting to worry or lack or sleep... or perhaps both... under light golden-brown eyes.

Once a beautiful sword rested on her hip but now the frayed cord holds loosely to the handle, a fitting image for the woman. With a carefree nature she readily displays in the two bottles she has tied to the right side of her hip. Walking with an air to her she is unbothered by worries that other samurai have and adopting her very own. A choice she happily accepts each and every day of her life.

Moshi Minari does not conjure up the typical image one thinks of when they hear the phrase "Moshi priestess". She talks rough, prefers simple clothing fitting for a sailor over any priestly robes, often voices her opinions loudly and without care, and frequently smokes even in polite company. In many ways she seems more like a Yoritomo than a Moshi, as she doesn't shy away from being confrontational, and when she does add anything more to her appearance she prefers foreign-looking jewelry like armbands and necklaces that clash with Rokugani aesthetics.

Physically, Minari could probably be considered some level of pretty. At least in the face. Her hair is often a bit too touched by the seaspray, and her short stature is not a willowy kind of beauty that the Rokugani prefer - this priestess clearly shows she's used to the rough life of the seas, and has the muscle-tone and sturdiness that comes with such a lifestyle. Including a good constitution for drinking.

Shitoru is a bit of a dojo rat, always working on his technique. He doesn't disapprove of interruption, but he will watch people closely, as if expecting something bad to happen when they begin speaking. Still, he isn't unfriendly, simply suspicious.

Spending the vast majority of her life in the mountains, Tanaka has only recently found an appointment outside of her clan's lands. Relatively cheerful, though somewhat moody and opinionated, the Dragon courtier seems to enjoy observing people and their reactions then politicking. Of course the Dragon's political situation is confused enough, she doubts her superiors will be overly concerned.

Tanaka is not a particularly muscular or sturdy woman, her physical condition being what one would expect from most courtiers. Her eyes are sharp and speak highly of her perceptive nature. For clothing she favors the traditional kimono of court in the colors of Dragon green for the most part, though she does try to mix in some complementary colors outside of her clan's.

[Hida Daichi]

Daichi is the youngest son of the Hida family involved in the current marriage. Younger Brother of the groom, While Daichi shares his brother's size and ferocity in battle his loud and brash personality is a sharp contrast to his large, quiet brother. Daichi is a man who does everything at full speed on and off duty. He is a warrior of notable talent serving along side his brother on the Wall, however he has earned a bit of a bad name for himself during his off hours. While the big Crab is friendly and personable (once you get past his weird eyes) his temper is a short one and more often than not any threat or insult results in property damage and someone in the infirmary.

Daichi is here to enjoy some time away from the horrors of the wall and have a damned good time celebrating and giving his brother a proper send off.

Shouji isn't what one would normally expect from a courtier, in fact at first glance he comes off more as a bushi. Skin tanned from the sun, calloused hands that have seen more then their fair share of work. Combine that with his height and his athletic build and he might seem a bit out of place in courtly finery. Not to say he can't fit in to court when he puts in the effort, which he often does when on shore.

Handsome by most account, his pale green eyes he gets from his mother's side as well as what his father calls some of his softer features. His voice is a pleasant baritone and why it's seldom raised in anger, his crew knows it can carry across the ship when he wants it to, even during violent storms. Prone to smiles and friendly chats, he is something of a easy going Captain. Even if certain crew members might accuse him of being a bit naive.

On ship he is generally seen in practical clothing, made for ease of movement and its sturdiness. His day to day wear also leans towards the more practical side of things much like a bushi. His formal ware though is quite extravagant even if it sees little use. He wears cologne when not on ship, the spicy slightly exotic scent something most will notice when near.



Archibald A.KA. Archic A.K.A. Arushii

The young orange tabby of about three months of age is the new Ships Cat aboard the Sea Fox. While still growing into the job Archie does show promise and is a menace to anything small enough for him to catch and eat, usually insects. Playful and a bit silly in the way of most kittens, Archie is also a cuddler, and more then one memeber of the crew have awoken to a kitten having somehow crawled into their hammock to join them for a nap.

Hooks:

Captain: Shouji is rather young for a Captain which could be of interest to various people. Either as a potential ally or future spouse.

Drinker: While not as prolific as some of his crew, Shouji does enjoy a good drink. Tea or Sake he likes both. Though probably has more of a fondness for the second.

Hunter: While not amazingly skilled, Shouji enjoys the outdoors and a hunt is something right up his alley.

At first glance, Yoritomo Koemi fits in with the rest of her clan. She's always in clothing fit for a sailor, most often without sleeves, and wears plenty of rings, bracelets, and arm bands. Less gaudy is her silver amulet embedded with three sapphires. Her muscles are well-defined and not covered by fat; she could stand to eat more during her travels. While she could be considered pretty, there are numerous obstacles towards attraction. She never wears makeup or even cares about her appearance beyond cleanliness and propriety, at least by Mantis standards. One of her eyes is marked by some bad omen, something that she is rarely shy about. If that were not enough, her personality is often the deciding factor in people giving her a wide berth. A definite outcast on her prior boat, she may or may not make the same impression on her relatively fresh crewmates.

• Headhunter: Koemi's battle oath is to slay four opponents in battle and collect their heads for the Fortunes she venerates and for her clan. She carries the bags with her everywhere.
• Distressing Mannerisms: Koemi possesses a laugh that is instantly recognizable for all the wrong reasons. Her smile is too wide, she has agitated spasms, sometimes stares too intently, and more.
• Particular Tastes: According to Koemi, the best meals are ones caught and prepared by one's own hands. While not always feasible, she does have a habit of spicing up anything that is served to her.
• Devotee of the Sea: Three Fortunes dominate Koemi's worship: Osano-Wo, Suitengo, and Isora. She is indeed full of superstitions regarding proper nautical travel.

Clan: Scorpion, that one we're certain of

Even by the standards of the Scorpion the figure called Ushi is a cipher. Age, gender, and build are all obscured by black robes over crimson kimono and a featureless, mirrored mask that reveals nothing of their face. Their voice, soft and low, seems to shift between slightly more feminine and slightly more masculine even during the same conversation and never lands solidly on either.

Even their role within their clan is open for interpretation. They carry two blades with the poise and confidence of one trained in their use but seems equally as skilled and confident speaking in court. When pressed on the matter they simply respond that 'they serve.' That said, while competent, they do not make effort to stand out for any of their talents - happy to be ignored as just another average warrior, or courtier, or whatever.

But, for all that is obscured and hidden, they are neither standoffish nor play into the air of menace or dread that some Scorpion enjoy - unless it is suited to their current task. They are more than happy to make conversation and can be downright cordial although they will be the first to say one cannot trust a smiling Scorpion... and who can tell when they are smiling?

Meiko is the youngest of four daughters from a shugenja family and it shows. Despite her size she's generally the loudest and most active samurai in a conversation as if she's shouting over some invisible opponent. After a succesful education at Kyuden Moshi she seemed set for a long career as a talented Centipede shugenja. There was only one problem.

The Valley of the Centipede is incredibly boring, and the Moshi family elders are more boring still. By the time of her gempukku Meiko was almost bored to tears and desperate to find new duties for herself. When informed that her family might take a year or two to consider prospects for her she snapped. A mantis ship was docked at the town and Meiko threw herself upon the young captain, practically begging to enlist in his service. It's a testament to just how big and sad Meiko's eyes get when she wants something that he accepted.

Now after 6 months at sea on the Sea Fox the young Moshi is discovering that excitement has a price. No comfortable futons, no baths, duties from dawn to dusk. It's not ideal....but it is better than her old life and despite being quietly terrified of half the crew Meiko remains her usual bubbly self.

The Wedding at Fire Shrimp Village offers futons, baths and most importantly, an opportunity to party and make up for all those years of staid Centipede life.

Amongst her fellow Dragon, she has a small reputation, but those outside of those lands know her only as a wandering duelist who appears in the most odd places sometimes, always smoking a pipe and trying to earn some food with odd jobs.

Wrestling has ever been Ōguri's primary passion, and all his life has revolved around it. Born a Yasuki, he became an adult as a Hiruma due to the transition of fealty of the Raikuto. He hasn't spent a lot of time in Crab lands, calling the capital his primary home where the Raikuto maintain their estates and their sumai stable. As such, he's a man of few prejudices and quite the socialite, especially since he was registered by the Miya as a pro wrestler last year. The last season was very good for him as he skipped few opportunities to compete and prove himself in sumai bouts, and won far more often than he lost, advancing to the rank of maehashira. He enjoys the life he leads and wouldn't have it another way.

By Crab standards, however, he leans toward being... fun-sized. Not exactly small, especially now that he's been gaining a true pro rikishi mass, he'll probably never acquire the imposing constitution of some of his ring peers and so may have a bit of height envy. So far he's used it to his advantage, felling greater opponents with superior technique to the astonishment of the audiences. Add his babyface features into the mix, and there you go, underdog adorability many enjoy to root for.

Ōguri is quite temperamental. He has his quirks, peeves and passions, jealousies and ambitions, hunches and spontaneities - a set of idiosyncrasies that make him a colourful personality and a showman in the ring. He's known for taunting his opponents with a gamut of mocking face expressions. One area in which he accepts few compromises is... food! He leans toward eating a lot as his profession demands, but he still prioritises sophistication and quality over quantity. He knows a thing or two about cooking and many in his stable have praised his chankonabe. He finds subpar cooking offensive, and so he can often be found in food markets, looking for unique opportunities to munch on the exquisite.

Three years and many invites later, she receives an invite to this prestigious wedding, despite her lowly status.

A petite Crane woman, Kakita Yuuwaku moves with the lithe grace of a dancer and the confidence that comes from being comfortable in her skin and with herself. And why should she not be? She acquitted herself admirably at the Kakita Academy, such that even the notoriously difficult to impress sensei of the school remarked on her great potential in her chosen art. She dresses well and looks better, and, what is more, she is an eager audience, listening with rapt attention--and who doesn't appreciate having such a beautiful young woman hanging on their words?

Daidoji no Hiramichi Kaneko is a young administrator for the Daidoji family. Born the fourth child of the Hiramichi Vassal family Daimyo, she works primarily in securing trade deals for the Crane in little ports all along the coast which help feed the coffers of the Daidoji throughout Crane provinces.

Losing her arm in a childhood accident caused her parents to push for her training as a courtier. She is a comely and fairly approachable young woman. She finds her line of work rather interesting and particularly enjoys the processes of fishing and their sales in the various markets of the empire. She has traveled in the same company with Yushoko and Kio to Fire Shrimp Village, but is not particularly close with the family herself.

She is most likely frequently to be found in and around the docks and the markets in town. She enjoys a good time, especially if provided for by someone else... as she tends to be mindful about her own expenses.

[Kakita Masao]

Masao is the sort of nice-looking, dutiful soldier that you might expect would be prized among the Crane. Indeed, for his part in the recent border skirmishes, he has gained some fame. Unfortunately, the young nikutai currently presents a dour, almost defeated demeanor as his standard on. This is not distress at the end of hostilities between Crane and Crab, nor frustration at attending a wedding for a dear cousin, however: Recent months have taken a toll on Masao and his family, with the fresh trauma and the uncertainty it's created leaving him feeling very much not himself.

Still, Masao is a dedicated soldier above all else, so he can often be found practicing kata or sparring in his spare time. Thanks to a very engaged grandmother, though, Masao's education included much more of the courtly arts than is common for the Daidoji school, so he is comfortable on all the terrain where a proper samurai might find themself. In his self-reflective moments, he is sometimes found playing a simple flute or meditating, although the latter is a more recently developed skill.

• Masao is quick with a blade, but by no means quick to draw in anger. Someone to spar with or just practice kata beside? Yes, please.
• Masao is no artisan, but he is a Crane and grandmother would be disappointed if he couldn't hold up his end of a conversation. Criticizing art? You might have something there.

Tetsuo was born amid a storm on the ocean, aboard his mother's Kobune. Some say when he was born, Osano-Wo himself withdrew the mighty storm, so satisfied was he with his newest follower. Or at least Tetsuo's mother says that. And his father. And him. Nonetheless, tall tales here or there, Tetsuo was well regarded among his peers in the dojo, excelling and finishing first in his class, in achievement at least, if not in height. When asked about his missing eye, he simply answers "small price to pay for greatness" or "just to make it fair for others", or some other, pithy sounding answers.

Amika is a true ronin. She grew up with her mother, travelling from places to places as the waves guided her from work to work. Her mother worked hard to provide for her, and although she did not grew up in comfort, she had a better life than the regular ronin out there.

Unlike her mother, which is a trained and veteran bushi from many wars and campaigns, Amika never really got the liking for warrior matters. Instead she devoted herself to the arts, in particular, painting. Self trained, she is quite good at it, and the few koku that her mother gathered was used in providing Amika with the right tools to develop her skills in the art of painting.

Now, as grown woman and a samurai, she departed from her mother side in search for her own destiny travelling through the sea waves of her life.

Amika could be considered good looking, certainly by rokugani standards. She usually dons her hair with a long tail. She usually wears flowers or other decorations on her as well elaborate make-up in the shape and style of painting.

Tatuma has been prepared to a soldier on the wall since being born. Being a Hida, very tall and muscular, he started in the Hida Bushi School. Early in his school career, it was apparent he was militarily, and joined the path of Crab Berserker. He's never cared for 'the finer things in life', nor does know much about high skills in society. He has kept life simple. He went rather fight or drink with his fellow Crab soldiers. He knows the basics of engineering, which has saved his life a time or two.

-Hunter - When he's not fighting on the wall, he enjoys going hunting for wild game.

Hanatsuko is followed by her falcon, Kuma, named after her older brother Kumatashi and her hunting dog named Sari. She maybe an odd character since she speaks to her falcon as it was a person. She is a child of nature and tends to be up in trees perhaps finding the vantage points for a good hunt.

[Doji Soon-ja]

Doji Soon-ja was once a rising star in the Crane courts - but that was thirty years ago, and old age has stolen much of her beauty and vigor. Nowadays the elderly widow spends her time hosting little tea parties, making polite conversation with courtiers, and bribing grandchildren with sweets.

In her youth, Soon-ja did a lot of travel, visiting the Lion and Phoenix courts to support Crane diplomatic efforts. After making a favorable match with Doji Shunpei, a promising Crane officer, Soon-ja settled down at Kyuden Doji to raise a family. As the years passed, her own children were married off or received appointments elsewhere. The War of the Last Hantei took her husband from her, as Doji Shunpei died while leading a rearguard action allowing his superiors to escape.

With little to do in her empty nest, Soon-ja waved off her children’s polite encouragement to retire to a convent, and has rejoined the courts to serve the Crane clan for however many years she has left. Recently, an ominous divination has suggested to Soon-ja that Daidoji Yushoko’s wedding at Fire Shrimp Village might face unexpected difficulties. And so, the elderly courtier is slowly making her way south to help support the Crane delegation in navigating any challenges that may arise during the wedding festivities.
