Vagabond [Day 1, MM]

[Yoko]

Sat on the edge of the dock Yoko let her feet dangle below. Leaning back she had her bottles set off to the side so that they didn't shift and clang awkwardly when she did. Travel wear and all the other assorted possessions she did own lay but a few feet from her with the most important of her possessions much closer. While elsewhere others woke and prepared themselves for their day she sat here and watched a pair of fishermen who were casting lines out into the sea. Fiddling with her kiseru, an old wooden thing that was well-carved and pretty to look at once but had seen enough age and weather to make it undesirable to most. Rolling the pipe back and forth between her thumb and index finger.

There was always someone to enjoy the natural calm of a morning when Yoko was around.

[Toritaka Hanatsuko]

Hanatsuko made her ways to the docks. Kuma was hungry for fresh fish. Sari was comfortable eating the scraps that Hanatsuko gave her. She noted the sitting ronin and nodded to the woman. She gave the command to Kuma to fly and hunt for his breakfast.

Kuma seem to have found its prey, swopping down and bringing the fish to a nearby tree.

Hanatsuko laughed. "You don't want to share, Kuma san? Are you that hungry?" The bird screeched.

[Yoko]

"Nice bird," she said, a small smirk tugging at the corner of her lips. Leaning back a little so she could more properly look over at the woman. Quirking her eyebrow a little, "You think... she?" she shook her head, "think your bird will catch you another one after?" she chuckled.

[Toritaka Hanatsuko]

"If he isn't full, he probably will." She looked at the ronin and then back to the bird and back to the ronin. "If I also wish he could catch another fish for myself to share with Sari or any friend."

[Yoko]

Glancing over toward the fisherman by the dock, she smirked and shook her head. "Wonder-" she pointed over by the peasant fishers "- how the fish might react toward a bird like that swooping in a few times, eh? Might make it harder for the locals to get a few catches disturbing the water like that," she suggested, but waved off with her hand. "But I'm sure they're happy to sacrifice, as they should be, eh? So don't fret too much over it, Samurai-sama."

Raising up the hand that played with the kiseru she kept performing the motions with it, twirling and twisting it in her hand absently. "Still, better to think on how wonderfully you've trained that bird, hmm? Magnificent lookin' thing if I do say so for myself," she said with a touch of a smile on her lip.

[Toritaka Hanatsuko]

"It is better for him to fish in the water than to take the fish from the hard working fishermen." She looked at the bird happily eating his fish. "He was trained by my brother. He is no longer among the living." She looked at the falcon once again. Sari rubbed against the Toritaka's leg. "It is fine Sari, I know he is okay." He is always watching me... What do you really want Kuma san?... for me to be happy. The girl laughed. She looked at the ronin. "I know I can do a great job training any chick."

[Yoko]

"Sure, but the fisherman and the bird are going to try and grab from the same source, eh? What happens after the bird comes down?" she glanced around for something, finding nothing she just pantomimed throwing a rock instead. After a few seconds of 'letting it fall' she made a splashing sound, "and then the fish scatter, eh?"

"Anyway, seems a good bird. Not that I have any idea what a good or bad bird is," she shifted in her seat and pushed herself backward with a swing and got up. "Names Yoko, by the way," she cast a smile. "Suppose I should ask for yours, eh?"

[Toritaka Hanatsuko]

"Right... well you already know Kuma, this one is Toritaka Hanatsuko and my other companion Sari." She pointed to the dog. "I supposed would be the same as wolves hunt for boars and dears in the forest and hunters hunting the same thing." Hanatsuko shrugged

[Yoko]

"Well, pleasure to meet you Toritaka-sama," she gave with a little bow, short in length. "Hunt for something and it's not there for the next person. Nature of life, and you learn that well when you take to the roads. Not much to concern yourself with though, yea? Let's talk about something more fun, like this absolutely adorable dog you have here," she said with a laugh. Squatting down and leaning her arms on her knees, reaching her hand out toward Sari though she was yet a few feet away.

[Toritaka Hanatsuko]

The Toritaka nodded. "She is the cutest thing. She is very loyal companion. Helps me hunt and pass the time with her annoying eagerness to play." She knelt down to the dog. "Aren't you?" She patted the dog's back. "This one I trained."

[Yoko]

"She does seem so," she paused, looking at the dog. Reaching out with her hand she started rubbing the pads of her index and thumb together toward the pup. "Hey little-.. uh, Sari, having a good day?" she said, a brief little smile. Glancing up she quirked a brow, "How was it, training a dog? Tough work?"

[Toritaka Hanatsuko]

"Really difficult. I needed to tire her before we could even start on a sit." Hanatsuko laughed. "I remember her puppy days... I had to run many laps around the village just to tire her out." She looked at the dog "But she is a good girl... when she focuses." She turned to the falcon. "Oh come on Kuma san no need to feel offended. You are also a great friend." She whistled to the falcon to perch on her arm.

[Yoko]

"Woah," she shifted back a little, nearly tumbled over backward with her position when the big bird came down. Laughing a bit to herself she shook her head, calming the laugh but letting the smile linger. "Huh, pretty animals. You know, when I was little there was this cat I always used to feed down by the river, I'd always sneak out to go give it a bit of fish or something I tucked into my sleeves. My mother was absolutely furious every time.." she said, a cold laugh.

"Miss that little guy.. I think it was a guy, seemed like a cool cat," she said with a deeper laugh. Standing up onto her feet she looked more directly to Hanatsuko. "Nice to have companions, eh?"

[Toritaka Hanatsuko]

"I should have warned you, my apologies." She gave a bow. "Do you want to pet him?" She offered the bird

[Yoko]

"Uh-" she glanced from the woman to the bird. "Sure, yea.." she paused in thought, stepped closer. Looking at the bird for a moment before glancing to Hanatsuko, "Just.. put my hand on it's head, eh?" she said, bringing her hand up a little, halfway between herself and the bird.

[Toritaka Hanatsuko]

"Just a pat on head. You can also ruffle the back feathers." The Toritaka demonstrated. "He is quite the mellow boy when he is fed." Kuma chirped happily. "Do you travel alone, Yoko san?"

[Yoko]

With a nod, Yoko watched and then patted the bird just as she'd been instructed. Looking up at the birds eye, the profile of the head, and smiled quite pleasantly. "Yea," she said, her voice soft as she focused on the bird for the moment.

Letting her hand down she looked back to Hanatsuko, "Well, normally. Sorta? Been traveling with the Mantis.." she glanced over her shoulder, looked for the Sea Fox and pointed it out. "That ship, over there, is how I got here. They offered decent wages, a place to sleep, and food, so pretty amazing deal all things considered."

[Toritaka Hanatsuko]

"I travel with these two rascals. They are my crew... sort of speak." She looked at the boat. "Never traveled the seas. How is it like?"

[Yoko]

"Not for everyone. Heard a few who had trouble with their stomachs but I made it out alright, but.." she glanced back over toward the boat. "Well, it's crowded, yea? Got plenty of folk using up only so much space. Don't pay any thought to getting into it with someone on the crew and escaping them for a while, you're all stuck aboard together and for a while. No other place to go when you're out there, eh?"

[Toritaka Hanatsuko]

"I see... Seems like a good place to make friends." She shook her head. "Being in a closed up environment with nowhere to go but into the water seem like a very..." She searched for a word. "special type of people."

[Yoko]

"You make do," she shrugged. "Though.. put little ol' me up next to some rather.. well, you know, the kind of important folks you would never expect a ronin to brush shoulders with, eh? Was.. wild, really. Good times," she chuckled, shaking her head, "good times."

[Toritaka Hanatsuko]

She looked at the falcon. "Really... What you are thinking about is the amount of fish you could catch." Hanatsuko shook her head. "I am glad you had fun and it was a pleasant experience."

[Yoko]

"Thanks," she said with a easy smirk. "Anyway, Toritaka.. that's uh," she pulled her lip back a bit, bit it. After a moment, "I'm not super familiar with the family. Guessing you're here for the wedding and all, eh?"

[Toritaka Hanatsuko]

"The Toritaka family endeavors in the hunt for spirits that are not welcomed. in Ningen-do This makes us have ties with the. Crab as most of our work intertwines with theirs." The girl sighed. "Not particularly here for the wedding more of a spiritual thing."

[Yoko]

"Spiritual thing?" she quirked her brow then brought up a hand. "I-" she smirked, "I'm gonna ask, you know I just have to ask, but you wanna come take a sit with me? Might be a little nicer than standing around here, eh? That is if you're willing to tell me about it, and got the time, and are-" she shook her head, no sense adding the last part.

"Anyway, yea?" she asked, glancing between Hanatsuko and the place where she'd been sitting watching the fishermen.
