[Day 6, Mid-Morning, Sea Fox] Meeting the Captain

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"It's not an easy thing." He admitted with a nod. "There are times and places that allow for it. Occasions where it's not wise to sail, or if my ship needs to be in harbor for an extended period for repairs." This wedding of course was another example.

"It's not something you see everyday though."

"That's part of it though." The young Captain admitted with a slight smile. "Hearing all about them when young. Even learning a different tongue, just adds a bit to my interest."

"My father was a fan of sailors tales when i was young, and the sense of adventure rubbed off on me."

[Yue]

Yue tilted her head for a moment when he said something in a foreign tongue, perhaps more mistaking it as a random mumble or something she just heard wrong. "You're still close to your ship here. I think if you really have to go further on land, that wouldn't be the case. It's still an adventure, in a sense? Your sense of adventure might be far different than mine. I don't think wandering the woods would rank as high as seeing completely alien people, for example."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"I I don't know, wandering the woods can be a bit on an adventure, even if it's only a msall one." The Tsuruchi replied. "It's not anything I get to do all that often after all." Small adventures were almost as good as big ones too.

"You're right though, it's one thing to be at most hours away from my ship. It's something completely different to be days." It wasn't somethign he could afford to do too often. "Being a Captain ties you to your vessel in some ways."

[Yue]

"So in a way, you're shackled almost as far as where your vessel can take you," she gave a shake of her head afterwards, "Sorry, that's what it seems like to me anyway. Your crew probably get more leeway and can do things on your behalf but you're pretty much more...responsible, right?"

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"Yeah, that's not too far from the truth of it." He admitted with a smile. "Some positions have just as many obligations as benefits." Something a lot of people didn't understand.

"Not that I particularly mind. I enjoy the sea."

[Yue]

"You get to stay close to the sea, at least," she nodded as she looked to the direction of the sea, still finding it a bit uneasy to go there herself. "Aren't there...dangers there? Winds, snow and storms must have a whole other meaning there? How about shark and giant fish, do they attack your ship often or your crew?"

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"There are and they do. Storms are something you need to keep an eye open for snows too though they are not as commonly encountered."

"As for Sharks and things like that? Nkt typically a worry, I mean I suppose you could accidentally hit one or a whale. Thats not often though, and sharks seldom try to.make a meal out of you." He paused a moment. "There are other creatures in the sea that are a danger, but its rare to encounter them."

[Yue]

"I figured that there aren't a lot of borders on the scenes that you might find yourself typically running into wildlife more often than not. At least fish can't climb on board but I have heard rumours on the Crane coast of flying sharks being able to jump over a ship and catch heimen. That might have been just a tall tale instead of facts," she gave a shrug at that.

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"I've never seen one." Shouji replied with a chuckle. "But who knows what they seen in Crane lands after a few cups too many of sake?" He shook his head.

"Flying sharks... whats next, flying boar?"

[Yue]

"Would either of those things be a crazy as what we experienced in the last few days?" she said before giving a shrug, "But I imagine things are already complicated enough on board a ship dealing with the weather, getting to where you need to be and your crew as well. I've never really craved adventure but I think the last few days kind of set my mind on that."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"No, now that you mention it not really." He replied with a chuckle.

At her next admission he nodded. "Sounds to me yiu might start looking for a way to set up roots then." The Captain offered thoughtfully.. "Moving from place to place isn't exactly the way not to find adventures."

[Yue]

"Well...roots aren't exactly a thing for me either," she sighed with a shrug. It did feel rather strange for her when things were getting familiar to her, perhaps it was the fear of commitment, "I guess many would see what I do on a daily basis as an adventure, especially the uncertainty of it all. There's a big difference between hoping there's a job or board and ghosts and monsters, that's for sure."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"And you never know what you will find until you get there either." Shouji said with a smirk. "So doubly the adventure at least to some." He looked over Yure for a moments. "seems to me though you're struggling a bit with the things you want."

"That might not be appropriate of me to say though."

[Yue]

"If I was struggling, I would be in a worse place, Captain. I think it's more appropriate to say that I've yet to find success out there, whatever sort of success that someone like me could find. I guess that would mean steady and long term employment. A ronin courtier might be able to work with a delegation for a season or two. The same goes for a yojimbo. However, I just hunt and that likely promises a life of short contracts. That's how things are. Again, not complaining," she nodded twice.

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"It didn't sound like you were." Shouji replied with a half smile. "Though I do think I understand you a bit better now." He added a moment later. "I suppose I shouldn't be runnign your ears off with my chatter all day though."

"Anything else you may want to ask em, whike I'm here?"

[Yue]

"No, I think I'm fine where things are. Thank you for your approval, Tsuruchi-sama. I'll get to packing my things and moving here," she nodded, it did help to finally make the move if her things weren't going to be resetting every day.

"And thank you for your time, Tsuruchi-sama," she said with a deep bow.

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"You're welcome." He returned the bow. "Get yourself settled in and maybe we can chat again later."

[Yue]

"Of course, Tsuruchi-sama," she said in parting and quietly made her way off the ship to return to the inn.

She would have to develop her sea legs during her stay on the ship but at least she didn't have to worry about an inn haunted by a girl ghost or a falling beam.
