[Day 5 - MN] The Curse ReReManifest [Event]
Event Type: Main Event
Participants: Unlimited.
Timeslots: Mid Night
Description: Something is compelling some people of the village and castle to leave their homes and walk towards the beach and into the sea. They continue walking until they are beneath the waves and drown. What could be doing this to people!
Along with the entrance people are shades and apparitions of ghostly soldiers!
Rules: Before the player can join this event they must resist the call to the sea. This is a Void check at TN 15, if this roll is failed the player falls asleep where they are. If the roll is failed by more than 5 they are now compelled to walk into the sea and die.
Players that are aware the day is repeating, meaning they made the Void roll at the start of the day, get a Free Raise to one roll in this event.
If they make the roll they can participate in the event. Magic is allowed, one spell can be cast either on themself or another in a hostile manner.
A player can participate up to three times, each time the TN increases by 5 for each subsequent attempt. They can repeat any choice only once.
Choose from below:
Snap out of It: The Player can attempt a Courtier + Awareness or Intimidate + Awareness check at TN 15 to snap someone out of the haze; they can make a raise to snap one additional person out of the haze. Failure means they fail to get anyone, failing with raises means the people attack them dealing +1k1 plus +1k0 per each additional raise beyond the first.
Baywatch!: The player dives into the sea to save people; this is an Athletics + Strength check at TN 15 (Includes the +5 for treacherous waters) to save 2 people. Each raise saves 2 additional people but failure means the player suffers 2k1 wounds due to the cold and losing their breath and each raise increases that damage by 1k1 per raise if it fails.
Stop or I will Stab!: The player attacks the affected people and tries to keep them from going into the sea. This is an attack roll with a weapon, not Jiujutsu, at TN 25 and each raise can allow them to stop one additional person but failure means they fail to stop anyone and if they make raises they kill a person by accident , plus an additional person per raise and this reduces the total.
Judo Chop: The player makes a Jiujutsu + Agility check at TN 15 to grapple and tackle a person and keep them from going into the sea. Each additional raise stops one extra person and if the roll is failed with raises they suffer 1k1 plus +1k0 per each additional raise beyond the first.
Magic or Whatever: If a player wishes to use magic or another supernatural ability please consult the GM, this option can be done only once.
Exorcise the Spirits: The character can make a Spellcraft + Intelligence check at TN 20 or Etiquette + Awareness at TN 25 to repel the spirits and guide the people back to safety, this will save two people on success. Each raise will save an additional person, a failure with raises means the player angers the ancestors reducing their Honor by .2 per raise. If they fail this roll by ten or more they gain the Haunted disadvantage.
Rewards/Outcome: If players rescue a at least 20 people, no samurai or players are lost and if they reach 35 then no one is lost, otherwise many peasants are lost to the sea. If less than 15 people are saved a random named NPC will be lost to the sea.

Taiki was in the Inn again as he started to feel the call of the sea. But he knew he should be expecting this by now. He knew he'd have to fight it, he knew he had to try and help. So he waited sitting on his bed, the Ono held on his right hand.
That said... he also knew it was quite possible he wouldn't be able to fight back the call. So his left hand held his pillow.
As the call started, he started that fight inside his head again. Started to drift, went to the main room of the Inn...
... and felt he was losing the fight again.
He supported himself on a table, leaned the Ono on the wall, then things started to go black again.
This time, he knew what to do.
He hugged the pillow.

When he opened his eyes and saw himself up a cliff, he looked at the horizon. A nice moon, a nice beach, the same nice people throwing their lives to a waste. The first day, he was afraid but did not faulter. Today, his legs did not even try to hold him back as he decided to walk down and help those people. If this entire situation was a bootcamp, it was working.

However, when he stepped on the sands, there were also... ghosts. He argued with people before, maybe with ghosts it would be even easier. He took his fan in one hand, putting it between some ghosts and people as if it was a shield, talking them out until the ghosts decided to leave.

Something stirs the Artisan in her sleep, perhaps some dream or some spirit speaking to her. Eyes but half-open, she rises from her bed, dancing a long, strange, slow dance that takes her from her room out the door, down the streets, and out into the surf where nobody sees.
The receding surf leaves in the sand a glinting jewel atop a fan already fading from salt and sea...

This day has not gone as well as in recent ones, and so Masao was restless enough to have stepped outside for fresh air in the dark of night -- and found various people under a spell. This spirit/curse/nightmare!

Shouji had heard talk about this, people wandering into the sea. This was the first time he had stayed up late enough to see it though, and to tell the truth it was more then a little horrifying.
Not that he didn't intend to do somethign about it. Leaping into the water he spent some time trying to Drag various people out. He wasn't nearly as good of a swimmer as some of his crew, but he did at least manage to drag a few away before they sank it's the seas cold embrace. It wasn't as many as he would of liked but it was what he could do.
Eventually he'd tire though and him and his soaking kimono would make their way back towards shore. Hoping to shout away some of the others who stepped towards the water. This was a success too, though swimming seemed like it was a better was to save people.

With each passing day the curse seemed to start earlier, end later, and affect more people. This time several were already drowning by the time he become aware of it striking again, and Yuma had to jump into the water himself to save them.
He dragged one, two, too many back to the shore, until his arms and legs became too sore for him to swim properly. And then he still found the strength to get between the treacherous sea and the crowd eager for its embrace, saltwater dripping from his body, his wet hair rippling behind him, and to try to distract as many walkers as he could from the lure of doom.
