The central courtyard is spacious and open to the sky, decorated in white with small white stones covering the ground. There is a raised dais with a wooden covering for the Lord of the Castle and their distinguished guests. This is where official court is held, and for any judicial processes. Courtiers typically bring a mat to sit on as the stones can prove uncomfortable to sit or kneel on for long periods of time. Doubly so in the summer with the baked stones. Along the walls are the flags of the Crab and the Mon of the Hida, and her personal Mon in a repeating pattern.
