[Day 1 - EN] Hole in One [RP Thread]

[Bayushi Ushi]

Attention gathered by the mask, he can't avoid to lean closer to inspect it. "Oh. This is the most curious. How do it does so?"

"An artifact of my family's time in the Sands." The mask cocks slightly, "It allows the wearer to see out but from the outside a mirror. I know it is not magic but I must admit the construction itself eludes me. Perhaps a metal so thin as to allow transparency or perhaps a fabric that allows reflection - but it truly is a marvel."

[Asahina Sanaharu]

He admires his image for a little more time before noticing how close he was, taking proper space. "Such material is the most charming. I believe it would have great use in art if rediscovered."

[Ichiro Taiki]

"She will be pleased to have more family here with us, and it will be good to catch up on our cousins," he said with a smile.

"As it is, I should return to the castle before it gets too late."

The Badger nods again.

[Kitsuki Tanaka]

Crayfish? Yes, he remembered those from his youth. "Close enough." The Captain answered with an easy smile. "Perhaps you'd care to join me for some in the future? If you've never tried them."

"Likely so." He agreed with a slight smile and a nod. "But you did a nice enough job for it to be please to the ear. Even if you aren't a poet by calling. You also managed to hit the heart of the matter. I love the sea, but there is a comfort to be found on land. In warm meals and new faces, even if it's just in fleeting memories when I return to my ship and the sea."

"Thank you Tsuruchi-sama," Tanaka dipped her head a little at that, "For the compliment and the offer of a meal. I seem to recall that such types of seafood can settle poorly with individuals, so I would prefer to move with caution in trying this new food."

"As for fleeting memories, sometimes that is all one needs to keep moving forward. A remainder of better times to see one through hardship, or a hoped for future to return to. Just as I assume memories of your comrades on ship help bring you back to the sea no?"

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"Well, if you're ever feeling daring. Do feel free to call on me Kitsuki-san." He replied with a soft smile. "Though I can also understand the caution."

"That and other things yes." He agreed with a nod. "I think there is a draw to the sea for most sailors, even outside the wish to see your friends and crew again."

"Anyways, it's been a pleasure, Hida-san. Hopefully we can swap some more stories some time, maybe spar, maybe even just relax, neh?"

[Kitsuki Tanaka]

"Well, if you're ever feeling daring. Do feel free to call on me Kitsuki-san." He replied with a soft smile. "Though I can also understand the caution."

"That and other things yes." He agreed with a nod. "I think there is a draw to the sea for most sailors, even outside the wish to see your friends and crew again."

"Mmm you partly understand..." She chuckles, "I am willing to try it but we might not want to make it the main course or for that matter away from a healer."

"Oh...does the ebb and flow of the waves put out some irresistible call for the men and women of the sea?"

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"Oh." He blinked and looked her over. "I should of thought of that when you mentioned it." It was a shame she suffered from such an ailemnt. "It might be best to avoid it altogether then, I wouldn't want to be known as someone who has to bring a healer to dinner because I push something on someone I shouldn't."

"Maybe?" He offered thoguhtfully. "I wouldn't say it's that though, it's more like...." He frowned after a moment. "It hard to describe honestly. I don't think I can accurately put it to words."

"Hmm...then perhaps I might speak of the mountains and the longing I feel even as I...left them to come here? My own feelings on the matter might mirror yours for the sea."

The big Hida nodded with a large grin on his lips "Yes I'd love that! Hopefully somewhere with less distractions than tonight, i'd love to be able to give you my full attention Kitsuki-san." he said in a voice that winked at her almost as surely as an eye would have.

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"No, no its fine...I don't know for sure," Tanaka smiled and waved it off, "I am just over cautious at times Tsuruchi-sama."

"Hmm...then perhaps I might speak of the mountains and the longing I feel even as I...left them to come here? My own feelings on the matter might mirror yours for the sea."

"Ah, I suppose it's understandable." No one really wanted to spend their evening vomiting after all. "We'll just have to find an agreeable time to meet then."

He looked thoughtful for a moment at her words then nodded. "That sounds like it might work, at least i may be able to tell where our feelings on the matter differ."

[Kitsuki Naida]

The big Hida nodded with a large grin on his lips "Yes I'd love that! Hopefully somewhere with less distractions than tonight, i'd love to be able to give you my full attention Kitsuki-san." he said in a voice that winked at her almost as surely as an eye would have.

Naida beamed a smile and nodded in return. Well, as much as a samurai might do in public, even in Crab lands.

"It sounds like a plan, and I'm looking forward to it. For now... I think I'm going to have one more cup and call it a night. You continue to enjoy yourself and keep your eye on that roguish cousin of yours, neh?"

[Kitsuki Tanaka]

"Ah, I suppose it's understandable." No one really wanted to spend their evening vomiting after all. "We'll just have to find an agreeable time to meet then."

He looked thoughtful for a moment at her words then nodded. "That sounds like it might work, at least i may be able to tell where our feelings on the matter differ."

"Well, its a sort of homesickness I suppose. The air is cooler and...lighter, here it feels like I am breathing in soup at times." Tanaka crossed her arms and bobbed her head in thought, "Then of course the views, while I was on the mountain I thought little of it but now I keep returning to my memories. Standing on a cliff side overlooking the misty expanse. The tallest of the mountain tops rising even above the heights I found myself. And below the green of the valleys."

"Then of course there was the comfort of the familiar, walking towns and halls I knew. Its amazing how much you notice a routine when you are forced to break it." She bobbed her head again, "And finally the stars...down here it is much harder to see them."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"Out on the open ocean it's much easier to see them. The stars that is. Without any light to speak even from a small town or village they are all you have to really guide you. A lantern or the like would do you no good." He smirked. "Other then help to see those nearby."

"Though I suppose in some ways the feelings are the same. The views you see at sea aren't always the same. Other then the faces of your crew and your ship. Well, I suppose the endless expanse of water as well. Though I at least am not looking for the things that are familiar?"

His lips formed a soft frown. "Perhaps it's the knowledge of always being moving. Getting to explore somewhere new, or maybe just making it to tomorrow with no loss. It can be a hard life out of the sea, but its a rewarding one for the most part."

[Kitsuki Tanaka]

"One navigates with the stars no? When the land grows distant and there exists nothing else save the expanse of sea and skies above?" Tanaka asked at his mention of the stars.

"And to feel always in motion? I suppose that makes sense, even at rest your very ground moves." Tanaka bobbed her head in nod, "I am curious though what areas one has explored? Surely much of the Empire's coast is known."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"Indeed." He replied with a smile. "I know a bit about it, but my navigator, Moshi Minari is the one truly responsible for that." He could manage of course, but she was better.

"Yes, though some of it as Crew not Captain. I've been at sea for just over two years now and while I can't say that I've stopped at every port along the Coast, I've stopped at almost every Major one. As well as been to most of the islands as well." It wasn't all the places he wanted to go, but it was a start.

[Kitsuki Tanaka]

"Two years and already visited near every port on the coast?" Tanaka smiled, "But where else would you be capable of going? Surely by now its becoming just a repeat of where you had been before." She knew well enough that strange gaijin lay to the west...ones that interfered with the Rokugani once.

"...ah, also I am not an expert but Captain of your own ship in two years sounds like something of an accomplishment. I can not imagine there are that many ships, even in the Mantis."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"It's not like sailing takes nearly as long as walking." The Captain replied with a smile. "And you might note I did saw almost every major one." He offered her a playful smirk. "As to where I go next? ...Where the wind takes me."

"Well, there are likely more then you imagine. Still at eighteen i am rather young for the role. So yes it is an accomplishment, and I'm proud of it. It was also something I was raised for though, and my training reflected it."

[Kitsuki Tanaka]

Tanaka blinked, "Where the wind takes me." She manages to say slowly, and surprisingly well...barring the sounds that would be unfamiliar to her lips.

She leans her head to the side and crosses her arm, looking up sideways in thought, "...from the west or from the east?" She shrugs, "From the west most likely."

"Raised for ship command? So then you follow in the steps of family?"

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

He was a bit surprised when the Dragon repeated his words. It brought with it the temptation to teach her a few more phrases. "That was well done, maybe you have a gifts for tongues."

"But yes, from the west would be right." He offered her a smile and nodded. "My father wanted his first son to follow his foot steps as a sailor. My mother insisted I not be just another sailor." Maybe she figured it would help keep him civilized. "So my Father did much to train me, he Captained a ship himself in his youth. Though he moved to raise the family a few years after marriage."

[Kitsuki Tanaka]

"Mmm, less a talent for languages and more just a good memory." Tanaka responded with a slight chuckle. "Especially when it is something novel. Are you the only one on your ship familiar with the language?"

"I suppose there is nothing wrong with ambition. Though I am given to understanding command is a heavy weight to bare, and one of great import."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"A number of my crew know the language as well." He admitted with an easy smile. "I think I may try and teach them all in time, though it's not really a rush at the moment." Not liek they were going to attempt to travel the world soon. "Still a good memory? That must be useful, especially for your duty."

"Comannd." His lips curled into a wry smile. "It can be, and I admit I am still learning what all the weight entails. I think I'm sufficently prepared to carry it though." Or at least he hoped so.

[Kitsuki Tanaka]

"I believe that goes with out saying Tsuruchi-sama," Tanaka smirked, "But one may wish to choose their words carefully around me, lest I politely remind them of their past language...at perhaps an inopportune time."

Her expression softened well, "For what it is worth I wish you luck in your burdens, may they serve only to temper you into an even stronger person."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

That brought a chuckle go his lips. "I'll remember that, Kitsuki-san and choose my words wisely before saying anything embarrassing in your presence." He smirked. "Not that I had planned anything like that."

"Thank you." Shouji replied simply. "I'll do my best." He always at least tried to.
