Kaneko leaned in close behind Kintaro and whispered in his ear.

“There’s some foul play at work here... but it may not have been of normal making. It would be best to have a priest familiar with curses check her as quickly as possible.”

She paused, “If they do her harm I will atone for my lack of judgement.”

Kintaro was angry and did not like it but he nodded and said, “Proceed. I pray you are right or you will answer for her life.”

The Kuni continued their work and had the servants carry the woman to her bedroom.

The luncheon was most definitely over.

“Ha-.” She said with a simple response and solemn bow of her head.

She then bowed to the Crabs in the room politely.

[Asahina Sanaharu]

"I don't see why it would be on the interest of the Crab to do that... I think it was the Scorpions, Doji-sama, if you allow me."

[Hida Fuboshi]

Fuboshi chuckled and said, “Fan your feud with the Scorpion if you wish but they have been honored guests, and hell I would be the first to lash out at them but we all drank the tea and ate the food. I suggest you shut your mouth and let the Kuni do their work before you go leaping to unfounded conclusions.”

“Besides if you truly seek justice then bring your words to the Scorpion directly and challenge them, you have enough pretty swords here to do that.”

She left unless stopped, and you don't want to stop her.

Kaneko internally groaned at the accusation of her clansman but simply nodded her approval of Fuboshi's assessment and did not stop the governor from leaving.

"Your reasoning?" Kintaro asked.

He would let Fuboshi go before arguing with his own mates. If she wanted not to believe him, he would like to see if she would change her mind after seeing the Kuni confirm that she was poisoned. He would not drink any tea that was stored there, at least, until the supply was changed.

"Who else would benefit from resparking this war, and who would go at this dishonorable length to do so? The Unicorn, sure, but they aren't even here."

[Doji Kintaro]

"They would benefit, but accusing them does nothing as it may just play to their scheme," he responded.

"But until further notice, no Scorpion through those doors, if they question it they can direct letters to me."

[Asahina Sanaharu]

He nods. "I want to avoid calling any duels, Doji-sama, due to the tenet of the Asahina. Although I must say that this seems indeed a bait for us to call with them a duel. One Scorpion tried to lure me into a duel yesterday as well. If not by my peace vow, I shamefully admit I would have done it."

He looks to the door where the Kuni disappeared with Yushoko, as if longing her return.

"I think we may break their plans completely if we discover why they want to call us in a duel. That seems like a first step."

[Doji Kintaro]

"I see no reason to press any further than we have, as it stands we only have supposition that they could be involved. Best to be alert and head off any further attempts," he responded.

[Asahina Sanaharu]

He gives a seated bow — whatever Kintaro said, he would obey. "Do we wait for the Kuni report that she was poisoned before we ask for our tea suppliments to be replaced, Doji-sama?"

"If the Kuni make that determination then do so," he responded.
