Too much time or too little (Day 1 Late Evening)

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

Yuuwaku takes a sip of her tea before she responds.

"Birds fly, of course, and range far when they do. Yet what bird does not appreciate having a safe nest to return to, a firm and solid branch on which to perch?"

She takes a bite of the shrimp, chews thoughtfully for a few moments, and continues. "And is not the trainer whose bird had flown furthest before more lauded than one who takes a bird already tamed?"

Her eyes meet his again.

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

He let his gaze linger aganist hers, he may blush easily but apparently he wasn't embarassed enough by what meaning may lie behind them to look away. "Being lauded for taming a far flying bird isn't the wish of all tamer's I'd say. Some would argue that the best catch is the pretty specimen that's well cared for."

It was his turn to try the noodles and he did so with gusto, his tonque flicking across his lips as he finished, and picked up his cup of tea to wash it down. "I suppose in my mind it depends on the bird, and whether the tamer is cunning enough to keep them, or should at best provide shelter for a time, before letting them resume their journey and seeking something easier to grasp."

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

"The shrimp really is quite good," Yuuwaku comments. "Spicy enough to be interesting, but not so much as to smother the flavor of the sea."

She takes a bit of the tofu before continuing.

"There is truth in what you say, of course. Some are content with their bound birds, to keep in cages what have never flown free. Just as some are content with ornament that has no substance behind it, a façade that has no structure supporting it, ready to crumble away at a touch. But while all things are transient, that which has so little endurance...I would think that riding the pitching waves and the wet weather would demand more, somehow."

This one's not so easily swayed, she thinks. Good. It'll be all the better when he bends to me.

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"I suppose I should get around to trying it then." Shouji mused, before doing just that, taking a few moments to savor the flavor of the shrimp before comment. "Good indeed, and fresh these were caught this evening rather then this morning." Which meant the owner likely had some sway with some of the fishermen.

"If one were to seek a Captain's attention for more then a few moments certainly." He agreed, a half smile on his lips. "Some among my clan are known to say that a Captain's first Love is his Ship and the Sea. That anything found on land are but a pleasant distractions before he returns to that which truly binds him. "

"It would take a truly enticing specimen of bird or other creature to sway him from that. To make him want to keep it, or spend more then the minimum of time at harbor, where he could tend to it."

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

"I've heard it said by those in my Clan who sail that, yes, a captain loves ship and sea, but is always glad to pull into port and spend time at anchor there," Yuuwaku replies, following the change in metaphor. I'm glad I paid attention to the literature courses, she thinks as she goes on. "I confess, though, that I have often wanted to feel the swelling of waves, the rise and fall of a mighty wooden craft beneath me, to taste the salt spray cast up by it."

She pauses, taking a sip of tea.

"One can hardly know one's self a sailor without making such a trial, can one?"

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

That brought to mind a certain image that he didn't wish to banish from his mind immediately. Still perhaps it was time to be a touch bold and word things like his father might. "So you want to be on top then... Of a deck that is. Not just placed in a cabin or under the deck in the hold." His smile was amused as he left things there, and moved to the next point of conversation.

"You are right though, one can't call themselves a sailor without experiencing such a trial. Learn if your legs will hold or if you'll collapse along the way."

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

Yuuwaku gently puts another piece of tofu onto her tongue, chews, and swallows before she replies.

"I presume you'll be in the village for the whole of the wedding?"

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"Unless I am called away, that is the plan." He admitted m, moving to take another bite of the noodles.

"I trust it's the same for you?"

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

Yuuwaku nods as she chews on more of the shrimp. After swallowing and taking another sip of tea, she replies more fully.

"I am dispatched to witness the event, partly on behalf of the School where Daidoji-sama and I studied. And I remain at her disposal, of course, should she find need. But she has not, yet, and so I have the opportunity to make new friends."

She leans toward him just a bit. "I hope I have in you, my captain."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"New friends are a welcome thing, Kakita-san." The Mantis offered with a easy smile, moving his chopsticks towards the tofu he had divided earlier.

"So if that's what you're after you have one." It'd be a useful thing to be closer to the Crane especially one that was close to the bride.

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

"It's a joy and a comfort, Tsuruchi-sama." She takes another bite of noodles. Again, she licks her lips lightly after.

"Though it would be a pleasure to be taken aboard, sometime, as well."

She sips at her tea again.

"If I might ask, are you trained as an archer, Tsuruchi-sama?"

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"Well, and time you wish a tour of my vessel, do feel free to come calling Kakita-san." He picked up his cup and took a sip. "At the very least I'll be able to treat you to some tea and conversation as well as the tour."

Moving the cup back towards the table, he continued to eat the piece of tofu. "But yes I am, though not to the degree as most of my cousins. The bow is not a thing most Tsuruchi would give up the chance to learn."

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

"A different school, then?"

She eats more of the shrimp as she awaits his answer.

I do love to know about people, she thinks.

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"Yes, I trained with the Yoritomo on the islands." He admitted, as he finished up the last bits of the piece of tofu.

"It was a learning experience in many ways." His lips spread into a warm smile. "The lands of the Yoritomo are vastly different then the one's of the Tsuruchi, as you can imagine." He paused a moment. "You said you trained at the academy though? I supose that's much like most of your family."

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

"It is," Yuuwaku replies, "and it is a blessing to be among kin. But there are things that schools do not include in their curricula, things well worth learning and that tend to favor being a bit away from one's sisters and brothers."

She takes another bit of noodle before continuing. "More study on the other side of the Academy from me, as might be expected. But that allows for those of us on mine to receive more individual attention, and it helps us form bonds. You can see it in the art, if you know how to look."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"I'm not to versed and such sadly, there hasn't been much time for the appreciation of art in my training or on my ship." Such things didn't tend to do well on ships.

"There is music of course as well as singing and the like. Thats not quite art in its physical form." He smirked. "It's often not the type of thing for polite company though."

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

"Physical art? You mean dance, of course!" Yuuwaku laughs lightly. "But I'm hurt that you would think my art is unfit.

"But maybe it's that you haven't seen the right performance yet." She smiles more sharply. "But that can be amended."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"I hadn't considered dance honestly." He offered with a wry smile. "Though I should if now that you mention it."

"As for unfit, I was talking about the types of songs the crew sings, they can often times come of as lustful." The Captain eyed the Crane woman for a moment. "I'm sure your own dance is much more proper, and I'd love the chance to see it."

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

"There are times and places for most things, my dashing captain," Yuuwaku nearly purrs. "And I would love to have you." She pauses.

"In an audience."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"Of course." He agreed with an easy smile, but a big of color still made it to his cheeks. "We'll have to find a good time for you to share your art, and for me to show you around my ship."

It might even work out to happen at the same time.

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

"I would be overjoyed to call upon you, my captain. Perhaps on [Day 4]?"

She finishes her shrimp as she awaits his answer.

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"That sounds like an opportune time." He replied after a moments thought. "Though I imagine I may see you before then. Even if we don't talk st length."

"My crew and I are planning a gathering after all, on the day after tomorrow. You and those of your clan are welcome to come."

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

"I'll pass along the invitation, of course. What time on [day 3] for the soiree? And when on [day 4] will work best for the captain to...take in the art?

"Also, is there anything we need to have handy for the gathering?"

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"The later part of the day, either [ME] or [LE] it depends upon what the Crab may have planned." They wouldn't want to interfere with those plans after all.

"As for when to tale in art? Perhaps sometime in the afternoon or evening? I've not really any other plans for that day. So whenever you might prefer Kakita-san."

At her final question he shook his head. "If you wish to bring something you can, but we should have refreshments more then covered."

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

"Seeing the sunset from aboard ship might be nice," Yuuwaku says, her voice low. "So [EE], perhaps?

"I presume your crew has liberty?"
