[Day 1 LE] Hell of a Day (expecting)

[Hida Daichi]

A little ways down the beach Sat a large, ok maybe massive, figure looking out into the waves. A thin column of smoke rose up from his kiseru as he sat quietly and pondered.

For now he seemed content to just sit and ponder, much had just been laid on his plate and he wasn't sure what to think of it.

[Togashi Keigo]

A set of footsteps whispered through the sand nearby. A tattooed monk was moving through a slow kata on the beach. Every move was careful and deliberate. However, it didn't take long for him to spot the massive figure sitting on the beach.

Curiosity quickly got the better of him.

"Good evening, Hida-san."

[Hida Daichi]

The big shape was slower to react than normal but in time looked up at the dragon training on the beach. Seemed to fit.

He nodded up a smile on his lips but his mind obviously not all there in the moment "Ah hello Togashi-san, it seems I was not the only one to seek the peace of the beach at this hour. This one is Hida Daichi. Pleased to meet you."

[Togashi Keigo]

"I rather like this spot so far. I've never been to the ocean before this trip," he said. "Togashi Keigo. You seem thoughtful this evening, Hida-san."

[Hida Daichi]

"I suppose not, hard to get ocean way up there in those mountains of yours eh?" He asked with a chuckle as he took a deep drag from his kiseru blowing the smoke away from the Togashi. He wiped off the mouth piece and motioned toward the Dragon "not sure if you monks are allowed to smoke but I'm never one to be stingy."

At the Dragons question he waved a hand dismissively "think nothing of it Togashi-san, this one has just had an eventful day with much to think on."

[Togashi Keigo]

"I don't, but then, I've never tried," he admitted. He took the offer and took a hesitant puff, only to hand it back as he coughed into his elbow. "Ow."

Once he was done (and Daichi was done undoubtedly laughing at him). "What sort of things happened?"

[Hida Daichi]

Daichi was about to warn the man to go easy if it was his first time and didn't manage to suppress a chuckle at the Dragon's misfortune "Careful there Togashi-san, its strong stuff. Makes you feel pretty good if you smoke enough of it, makes you feel pretty bad if you smoke too much." It wasn't just normal tobacco in the pipe but something he'd been told calms nerves and anxiety, he would have told the Dragon if they had asked "I have heard some smoke it to find their center but I've never felt particularly balanced after smoking, just a bit more relaxed."

"Oh nothing to bother yourself with Togashi-san, you didn't come to the beach to listen to the problems of a random Crab you've never met. Are you here for the wedding Togashi-san? Or just passing through?"

[Togashi Keigo]

"Ah yes, I've heard of such," he said with a nod, apparently the misfortune's effects clearing up quickly. "Were that finding one's center was so easy."

"The irony is that in a sense, I did come here for exactly that. I am traveling to learn how the individuals of different Clans and ronin approach solving large and small problems, as well as studying how the balance of the elements and nature play out in different places. Though, yes, I am also accompanying Kitsuki Tanaka-san to the wedding."

He held up his hands. "That doesn't mean you have to tell me anything, though, so don't take that a insistence. Just the reason for curiosity."

[Hida Daichi]

"That tracks." he said with a small smile "sounds....i don't know, very Togashi of a purpose." he took a deep breath looking out to the water in the final rays of light as they danced across its surface the waves playing with the light off in the distance.

Those waves may be home someday, some day soon indeed he thought to himself as he pondered a moment longer "It isn't really a problem per say Togashi-san, really just an unexpected turn of events and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I was just informed today I am likely to be married into the Mantis. My intended is an exotically beautiful older woman, not old mind you, just older than me and Its just a lot to process. I had already had it in my head i'd be going back to the wall and serving there at least a few more years."

he took a deep drag of the kiseru and leaned back on one hand "Like I said, not really a problem just trying to get my head around it is all."

[Togashi Keigo]

"I hear I can be somewhat Togashi at times," he joked a little before listening more seriously. "I see. That sounds like a lot to process. A complete change of lifestyle and duty. Plus a shift from a focus on defending the Wall to... whatever the Mantis will have you doing. Boarding party? Knock three people into the water with a single tetsubo swing?" He gave a small grin, obviously trying to lighten the Crab's mood a little.

[Hida Daichi]

Daichi smirked a little "Yeah not sure what she wants me to be doing except fighting seems to be what most people look to us for, not that I mind it. My brother is the sensitive soul, I happen to get a great deal of pleasure from breaking bones. Not needlessly of course but I certainly know I was put here to fight."

[Togashi Keigo]

He shrugged. "I could only guess at what you'll be pointed toward, but fighting seems likely. You are samurai, in the end." He tilted his head to the side. "Still, if you enjoy fighting, maybe it'd help take your mind off your concerns for a bit? I mean, we have a party in a while, so broken bones are less than ideal, but maybe knocking me into the sand would be a decent substitute."

[Hida Daichi]

"Youre built well but I didn't get the feeling from you that you were particularly interested in fighting Togashi-san." Daichi said with a raised eyebrow as his eyes appraised the possible opponent in front of him.

[Togashi Keigo]

"I prefer to avoid killing, but I have to train both body and mind," he replied with a shrug. "Besides, it's helping you rather than doing harm with it, so it's probably one of the better reasons I've had to punch something."

[Hida Daichi]

The large Crab rose his size even more impressive now that he was standing "well Togashi-san, I've never been one to stand down from a fight or challenge even odd ones proposed by Togashi that are saying its to help me." he said with a grin. "Maybe just a bit of wrestling then, nothing likely to get either of us too hurt."

[Dapper Dog]

For a moment the duo can hear the beating of drums and then the sounds of people running the sand but see nothing. A shrill battle cry followed by silence.

Quickly replaced with the normal sounds of the late evening time beach.

[Togashi Keigo]

Keigo stood, and then turned to the sound looking around in confusion. "Are... ghost battles normal here...?"

[Hida Daichi]

Daichi didn't seem all that alerted by the sounds and shrugged "yeah, rumors of spirits fighting here at night and strange creatures coming out of the shadows. Dont really recommend hanging out here after the sun goes all the way down."

He thought for a minute "might want to reschedule that spar and start walking back towards town."

[Togashi Keigo]

"Fair enough, then," he said, shrugging. If Daichi wasn't concerned, there was no reason for him to be. "Sure. You can shove my face into the sand some other time." He chuckled a little.

[Hida Daichi]

Daichi laughed a bit at that "You almost seem eager to face a son of Hida in combat. Does Togashi-san have a desire to feel the power of the Crab first hand as part of his research on problem resolution? Because most Crab deal with problems by drinking or smashing."

[Togashi Keigo]

He tilted his head. "I am eager. Why shouldn't I be? Everyone has something to teach."

[Hida Daichi]

Daichi nodded "maybe so, some more than others im sure. I doubt you have much to learn from a headstrong troublemaker such as myself." He said with an ever present grin on his lips

[Togashi Keigo]

"Sure, some more than others," he replied. "But given my preference for quiet and pacifism, I'd say I probably have more to learn from you than most."

[Hida Daichi]

"I guess much is different between us but how much of that new experience is worth learning?" he asked with a raised eyebrow

[Togashi Keigo]

He shrugged. "I won't know until I experience it."
