[Day 1 - EN] Hole in One [RP Thread]

[Yoko]

Yue found herself blinking at the mention of sea legs and stomach problems, as if they indeed confirmed her worst fears about being at sea. "Being with the Mantis must be good but I think I can see why not many ronin would readily join them if they were given the same offer. It sounds rough and I don't know how I'd deal being on the bad end of that."

She gave a shake of her head with a shudder.

"I'm..." she said before given a slow glance around before letting out a sigh. "I'm not too sure. I was about to find out until I found this place was so busy tonight. Maybe if I don't find anything tomorrow I'll think of looking them up."

"The kind of work you're not supposed to ask questions." she murmured through her hand.

"Ah-" she said, but didn't close her mouth right away as she clenched her jaw a little. Realizing how visible that was she laughed, easing up her expression, "Well, I'd need quite a bit more drink to continue that sort of thought, eh?" she teased and laughed a little. "Certainly not drunk enough for that.." she mumbled to herself.

"Anyway, yea, give them a shot. Not sure what you have that they might want but if you talk to the one who bought us our entry tonight, Moshi Minari, she's a priestess aboard the boat, good folk. Just uh.. you know, give her or Yoritomo Katsu a calling and they should be able to hook you up with something if they can find the need," she nodded again," good folk. Least while they're on land you want have to worry much, eh?" she glanced over with her cocky smirk.

[Hida Daichi]

"Each school has its own way, for certain. Having traveled the Empire on a pilgrimage, I have had a chance to see many. Not a Hida using a tetsubo though. That is certainly something one does not see up north."

"Perhaps you can come to the training grounds while you are here Kitsuki-san, I'm sure some of the recruits would be interested to study the fighting techniques of the Mirumoto. Maybe we could even have a spar to gain more appreciation for one another's styles! I find hands on learning to be the best way to learn something!"

[Toritaka Hanatsuko]

Hanatsuko looked beside her and frowned. "This was your idea not mine." She whispered

I just want you to have fun for once.

She sighed. "I have plenty of fun with Sari and Kuma.

I mean fun with other humans.

She looked around and whispered. "These humans are having plenty of fun without me... so your point?"

I will continue to follow you until I know you are happy with a human around you.

"Right... that is why I should go to Toritaka Hinoto."

[Asahina Sanaharu]

"Well that or they were trying to drown you out." There is a slight, amused chuckle from beneath the mask, "But I jest, I am sure they appreciated your work."

"Thank you for the ever kind words, Bayushi-san." He replies with a nod and a good ōn. "When did you arrive? I have not seen you when I did."

[Kitsuki Naida]

"Perhaps you can come to the training grounds while you are here Kitsuki-san, I'm sure some of the recruits would be interested to study the fighting techniques of the Mirumoto. Maybe we could even have a spar to gain more appreciation for one another's styles! I find hands on learning to be the best way to learn something!"

A small nod.

"How is it my sensei put it? Show them, don't tell them. Have them do, rather than just watch. Let them experience, not just copy. Thus it is for many things. I can't promise a very deep lesson, though appreciation is another matter all together."

"Thank you for the ever kind words, Bayushi-san." He replies with a nod and a good ōn. "When did you arrive? I have not seen you when I did."

The mask nods, "Earlier this day, around the hour of the Hare. The guards were quite welcoming so I doubt there was little to notice of my arrival."

[Hida Daichi]

A small nod.

"If I expected to be able to learn your whole technique from one little demonstration and spar it'd be an insult to you and your school! No just a litle sparring to keep both of us sharp, and hey maybe one day one of us will have to face the technique in the field of battle. Having some is better than having none when it comes to knowledge of the enemy!"

[Hida Yoji]

At some point during the festivities the groom in question had made what some would one day call the Dragon Goodbye, maybe he had gone to get drinks and just never came back but it wasn’t like the Crab and peasants present were going to be up in arms now that they were thoroughly into the party.

[Shosuro Himeko]

Holy kami, the Scorpion was indeed incredibly quick, he was actually about to flip his cup upside down, but his inexperience clearly showed up. The Otomo may have been gifted the constitution of a Hida, that's no doubt, but the liver wasn't yet marinated in sake as those of his hosts. His smile flattens as he looks up to Himeko and a drop of sweat slowly starts form up his forehead.

Saisei waves for her to take a seat at his side, and says, as she makes herself even more comfortable nearby, "Oh. There are plenty. Otosan Uchi, after all, is the heart of the Empire. Located within the Forbidden City itself. It is said that those blessed by the Heavens can actually enter within. Those that dare enter without invitation are punished greatly. The less honored might explode, while the most honorable of souls might just get a bit dizzy."

Himeko takes the offered placement by the Otomos side, pausing the server as she left to say "do bring Otomo-sama some more of those lovely noodles as well. He was speaking very well about them earlier!"

She turned back to the boy, nodding politely.

"I can't imagine any would dare try to break into a place blessed by the heavens. Certainly not I, I'm content to await my invitation to the city, which I'm certain will be soon enough. Exploding though, that sounds difficult to believe. Are the wards so strong that it can judge people on their honour, and eject them in such a way? Truly, that would be a sight to behold. Perhaps not the exploding part though" she chuckled softly "and this is your first assignment away from the city! To go from such a city to this quaint little village must be quite a culture change."

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

"That... may be the wiser choice," he agreed with a self-effacing laugh. "Everyone was drinking to the groom, it seemed like the thing to do." He stepped over to the alcove, gesturing that she should have a seat first.

"I've been around the area near the beach, mostly. The shrine has an extraordinary view from the cliff, even if the decor leading up to it is, uh... unique. I definitely suggest going up to see it some time before you leave."

Yuuwaku seats herself demurely and waits for the Dragon to join her before she replies. As the server approaches, she subtly lifts a hand to wave her off.

"Unique decor, you say? Now, Togashi-san, you can't just pique a lady's curiosity like that! You're going to have to escort me there."

She smiles at him again, leaning in just a bit towards him. "But do tell! I want to hear all about it!"

[Yue]

"Ah-" she said, but didn't close her mouth right away as she clenched her jaw a little. Realizing how visible that was she laughed, easing up her expression, "Well, I'd need quite a bit more drink to continue that sort of thought, eh?" she teased and laughed a little. Saisei was about to intervene in her request, but, Jigoku, delicious noodles for lunch and for dinner, why not?

He's still growing into a full man after all. Better do it as the Hida while in Crab lands.

The young man smirks, the explosion topic was always an ice-breaker. With a single cracked laugh, he also mentions, "After the last war, though, I am not sure those wards are actually activated. But you shouldn't worry. Honorable samurai are used with some sort of headache or migraine from time to time. That should be a good price to pay to be able to there, no?"

[Kitsuki Naida]

A small smile, "You're not wrong on either account there. Me? For me I imagine I simply have more professional curiosity than anything else. I will admit, almost anyone can be an enemy one day, but some seem more likely than others. And the Crab seem much less likely than many other prime suspects."

[Asahina Sanaharu]

He nods, taking note. The Bayushi was hard to read, specially since his appearance was made for that exact purpose. This made the Crane feel cornered. "There was actually more to the song of earlier. It was just a part of a poetry to seven great heroes, one from each clan."

[Ikoma Ren]

"Does anyone actually win a drinking game?" she asked as she looked around with an amused smile.

Ren raises his glass. "We all win when I'm there to record it"

[Kitsuki Tanaka]

"An extended posting then?" That was interesting, well vaguely. "Plan to be in this Village for a while then? Or is this just a stop to attend the wedding before going on to your next destination?" Probably someplace with more political significance?

"Likely back to the islands of silk and spice." He offered with a shrug. "We'll be picking up various cargo on our way back up as he drop off passengers which will give us plenty of interesting items to bring to the islands. His lips curled into a slight smile. "The crew could do with a bit of time at home as well. The seas are nice and all but it's good to get to spend some time on the islands."

"Something like that yeah," Tanaka nodded, "Ah trading passengers for cargo, never an empty ship then."

She rubbed her chin again, "Perhaps someday I will get to see the isles, this trip has been must first outside of my family's lands." A small chuckle escaped her lips, "First trip out and its from one end of the Empire to another. Maybe my second long trip will be from your home isles to the lands of Unicorn. Walk the breadth of the land from north to the south and east to the west."

[Bayushi Shitoru]

Shitoru had sent a message to the inn, to be certain his company later that evening would be available. When he returned, he had to admit that he felt not a bit like meddling between the Ikoma and Fuzake. He'd end up the fool, or worse, the villain for no good purpose. That was when he noted the oddly dressed woman speaking..to herself? An animal? Shitoru had seen things on this journey thus far, and met strange people...it was nothing to worry over. Perhaps the girl simply didn't like parties.

He would find out.

"Hello, samurai-sama", the Scorpion greeted Hanatsuko with a bow. "This one is Bayushi Shitoru, are you enjoying your stay here in Fire Shrimp village?"

[Kakita Masao]

Dressed appropriately but quite tamely compared to some of the other attendants, his long hair braided, a shiner in the making on his face, Yuma sat quietly in a corner, observing the very diverse people around and listening to their conversations.

Masao wanders over to his clanmate, flute tucked securely in his obi and a drink in each hand. "Doji Yuma-san," he recalls from the clan meeting earlier. "For being the first to truly ring in our coming alliance with the Crab, please have a drink with the compliments of Kakita Masao," he gently indicates himself without spilling anything. "Sake or shochu, your choice," he says, raising each cup in turn.

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"Something like that yeah," Tanaka nodded, "Ah trading passengers for cargo, never an empty ship then."

She rubbed her chin again, "Perhaps someday I will get to see the isles, this trip has been must first outside of my family's lands." A small chuckle escaped her lips, "First trip out and its from one end of the Empire to another. Maybe my second long trip will be from your home isles to the lands of Unicorn. "It's not wise to have an empty ship if it can be avoided." The Captain agreeed with a grin. HE did wonder what she meant as something like that, perhaps she was meeting a potential match? Not that it really mattered.

"Though I should probably say you won't be walking the whole way on that second trip." He added with a chuckle. "Unless you intend to pace across the deck your entire time on the voyage from the isles to the mainland." Which would be silly but, there were strange people in the empire. "Though I should likely say that's the type of walking I do the most of."

[Ichiro Taiki]

The Badger had come in late and unsure, then drunk like a tanuki... Then attempt a boasting that was clearly failed after something seemed to distract him - even after a remarkable amount of alcohol.

He kept quiet at a corner for some time. Seemed to be trying to cool down... But his eyes kept scanning the place, focusing on a certain Yasuki.

He noticed as Yoji left the place and apparently didn't come back, and that seemed to place a small smile on the corner of his otherwise tense face.

But that Yasuki... was he still around?

[Doji Yuma]

Masao wanders over to his clanmate, flute tucked securely in his obi and a drink in each hand. "Doji Yuma-san," he recalls from the clan meeting earlier. "I'll take sake thank you. I'm not enough of a heavy drinker for shochu.

While the way to express their disagreement might have been more direct than what I'm used to, I fear I was the one at fault. Wrong story for the wrong audience in the wrong mood. Good lesson for the next time.

Though I'm apparently not the only one out of sync with the local atmosphere. The boy we're supposed to be partying in honor of already left."

[Togashi Keigo]

Yuuwaku seats herself demurely and waits for the Dragon to join her before she replies. As the server approaches, she subtly lifts a hand to wave her off.

"Unique decor, you say? Now, Togashi-san, you can't just pique a lady's curiosity like that! You're going to have to escort me there."

She smiles at him again, leaning in just a bit towards him. "But do tell! I want to hear all about it!"

He settled next to her, the skillful movement from his training obscuring how much he'd had to drink. "Why don't I escort you tomorrow? I use the top of the cliff as a mediation spot in the mornings... Though I suspect we may all need some extra time getting started tomorrow with the late hour."

"The cliff overlook a copse of trees before it reaches the sand bar of the Crimson Beach and opens up to the water. A perfect bird's eye view on a perfectly balanced place. I'd like to try painting it, honestly. Are any artistic endeavors close to your heart, Kakita-sama? I know you're Crane, but I don't like to make too many assumptions."

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

He settled next to her, the skillful movement from his training obscuring how much he'd had to drink. "Why don't I escort you tomorrow? I use the top of the cliff as a mediation spot in the mornings... Though I suspect we may all need some extra time getting started tomorrow with the late hour."

"I do paint, but not as well as others. No, I dance as my calling," Yuuwaku replies. "There's just something about moving one's body in a rhythm, feeling the beat flow through, it's just" and she trails off in a contented sigh.

"I think you might do well at it, though. You've the build."

[Fuzake Hifumi]

Ren raises his glass. "We all win when I'm there to record it"

"You are not the only one who records events, Ikoma-san." she raised her cup. "I'll admit, however, that I don't usually note the details of drinking contests. Who would you say is the strongest competitor?"

[Yoko]

Yue gave a few small nods at Yoko's reaction, looking a bit silly that she had brought it up in the first place, "it's just a tip that I heard from early on the road, anyway. But, if you're suggesting that the people that came in with you then I could consider them first for a job. I won't get far unless I consider all the angles, right?"

"Gotta make what you can, where you can, eh?" she said with her cocky smirk, bit more intense than the usual maybe. Shifting how she stood a little, finding a less uncomfortable position. "Well, work that you can hopefully stomach anyway.." she shook her head. "But yea, yea," she looked around the room again, taking in the sights and people.
