An Eye on the Horizon (Day ) Mid Evening)

He wasn't sure this was anything he could be proud of. In fact he was pretty sure it wasn't. Meiko's innocence was destined to be gone at one point or another. At least this way she seemed excited about the prospect?

"I'm sure you will give this your best, Meiko-san. I'll certainly be able to take pride in that." It might be the only part of this process he could be proud of, but at least it was something. "Just let me know what you think when you're done."

He paused a moment. "And don't forget about discretion should you decide to try a hands on approach to learning."

"Oh I am very discreet by nature, they won't eve notice!....I mean, obviously they'll notice when I hold their hand because I'll have asked first, because you don't just go around hand holding people out of the blue!"
Meiko clearly had been planning this for some time.

"And then afterwards I'll come back and tell you and you can correct any of my mistakes for next time. I want to be really good at it!"

He was doomed. Still it was best that the Moshi had someone to talk about this sort of thing with, and as a Captain it was probably his duty... Though he could probably push it off on Katsu? No that would be rude.

"I'll help how I can, Meiko-san." He replied after a few moments. Hopefully the conversations wouldn't involve anything past hand holding. "It's the least I can do after all the hard work you've put in handling the Imperials."

The Moshis smiles happily at the praise.
"Oh it's no trouble!...Well it's lots of trouble, but the trouble is no trouble! Sure they're a little more demanding than most of the crew what with not sleeping in hammocks and everything, but they seem nice! Well, Otomo-sama seems nice, and since he's the most important that's what matters."
Rubbing her forehead
"I'm really excited at the thought of sleeping through the night on a futon though, that will be the best wedding present of all!"

"You make it sound like you're expecting to get married when you say it like that." The Captain said with a soft chuckle. "But I suppose that will be nice for you. I'll still be sleeping on the ship though."

"Oh no, probably not for a while. I think things have gotten really complicated marriage wise back home now that we're part of the Mantis. And I mean, you get a futon and everything but it's such a big committment. I've never even held hands, how could I marry someone?!?!"

"You're likely right there, you'll want some experience holding hands before you get married." Shouji agreed with a slight smile "I mean you won't be able to stare at the shore wistfully as you sail away either if you just get married straight away."

Meiko seemed to recognize that as an important part of the liking people process, so she should experience it at least once. Right?

"You're likely right there, you'll want some experience holding hands before you get married." Shouji agreed with a slight smile "I mean you won't be able to stare at the shore wistfully as you sail away either if you just get married straight away."

Meiko seemed to recognize that as an important part of the liking people process, so she should experience it at least once. Right?

"Exactly! If I don't stare out from the ship at them on the dock, and then I'll cry a bit and they might cry a bit, unless they're stoic in which case they're crying on the inside. And then I throw them something to remember me by as the kobune picks up speed and with one last tearful look I run back to my hammock and throw myself down and sob."
Meiko seems quite excited by the prospect of all this.

It waa pretty exciting from a certain point of view, maybe thats why his Dad said he should leave a broken heart behind in every port? Though a line of samurai at the back of the ship casting away objects to their loved one probably would be a bit tedious. So he'd reserve that spot for Meiko.

"Just be sure to toss away something that floats? Like maybe a flower or something. I don't think it would be the same if whatever you threw just wound up directly on the bottom of the ocean."

"Ummm, I don't have a lot of other small bits of clothing, I could toss a hat? They're sort of aerodynamic."

"That's perfect. I'd need a box to stand on to properly wrap the scarf around them but then I'd say 'You are the best part of me' and squeeze their hand before running up the gangplank."

"I mean, if they aren't too tall you may be able without the box, and just standing on the tips of your toes." Shouji offered thoughtfully. "That does sound just about perfect though."

Meiko hops up on her tip toes and raises her arms as if wrapping an imaginary scary around someone. As she narrows her eyes
"Hmmm, maybe if they weren't too tall...But if they were tall a box would be necessary."

"You'll probably want to have that ready beforehand just in case. You don't want to have to stop and run onto the ship for a box then run back down. May ruin the moment you know?"

"We'll get lots of warning before we leave, right? Everything has to be perfect."

"Yeah, it's not like I plan to leave town in a hurry or anything." Not unless somethign truly absurd happened at least. "So you should have plenty of time to arrange your moment." Though really he hoped she didn't put too much time into planning the moment.

Really she should spend more of her effort on finding someone worth having a moment like that with. Right?

"But that's so hard captain-sama, if I'm looking at my feet then I'm not looking where I'm going and I'll run into the mast again."
That had hurt immensely, thankfully the mast was okay.

"You have a point there." The woman just had little in the way of spatial awareness. She'd walk into a cart if someone parked one nearby.
