When you said to Kitusuchi that the Hida Daimyo expected you to make a speech, people usually made a little stage for you.
This one was so low to the averages of the Crane... But it was a problem not.

Being tall like this, in full clad white and serene, light blue, a cloud amongst men, it was easy to center attention on oneself. Much more so with a voice potent like his. Only this smooth because he wished so... It could very well be instead loud.

It's with great honor that I well make the observation that their guests followed their shining example.

Let's start the night, here, at the best manner of all festivities — music and dance, each one complimenting the other for a thousand years. Kakita Yuuwaku-senpai, please step up. Present yourself to your best and I will be your first company. My music will be your hound. My biwa will be your admirer."

My fan will be your sword. My friendship will be your leisure at the darkest hours. My heart will be your instrument.

"The stage is yours."

I want not to shine above you, my dear, but at your side.

With this, he took out his biwa and started to play. He knew the Crab liked speedy songs. So be it.

The art of hiding meanings behind words was well known in the Crane. Such was the art of sublety. The custom of making great art with clear autorship but unsigned was also a custom in the Crane courts between lovers. Why not mix both?

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

Summoned with shining words, Kakita Yuuwaku--dressed resplendently, again, with her fan in hand and her head-jewel shining in the lamplight--ascends the stage. It is a brief ascent, of course, the platform being low and she being diminutive, but it is done with a sure and languid grace that bespeaks her body's control. Sanaharu gets a smile as she does, and when he sets a high tempo, she whirls into motion, exulting in the rhythm of the dance and extending Sanaharu's performance just a bit (your TN is now 43 for the Etiquette (Courtesy) / Willpower roll), her smile wide as her fan opens and closes to punctuate Sanaharu's phrases as light coruscates around her in the light and her limbs move with power and grace.

He knew the custom of the Crab of singing along, so he did only trace the way to guide her feet with his biwa. In front of the Empress and the Champion... I hope this matters enough for you three. He saw her dance as he played again, much like yesterday, but unlike yesterday he felt much less lost and much more focused. Perhaps it was the effect of his very own words over him.

Shouji was present. Though his eyes were on those he was drinking with rather then the stage. He did turn and join in on the applause when the performance ended.

Though other then that he had only given the performance a limited amount of his attention.
