[Asahina Sanaharu]

Sanaharu takes great care of his appearance. Almost always covered in makeup, a perfume essence, jewelry and three layers of clothing that hide how weak his constitution is. He also wears a pendant on his forehead, a very small symbol of the Asahina in silver. Sanaharu speaks on a smooth yet clear tone, which he obtained at his dojo. Sometimes he is carrying his white biwa around.

[Kuni Takeshi]

Born and raised in Fire Shrimp Village, Takeshi knew what his life would be like. He would be taught the ways and secrets of the Kuni by his father & sensei, watch over the Fertile Mounds Shrine, hunt down and kill possible invaders from Jigoku, marry a woman, have children and teach them the ways of the Kuni.
And, for the most part, it also happened that way, but of course not everything went according to plan,...

For example, his father, Kuni Satoshi, was killed in a goblin attack just before Takeshi's Gempukku.
The fact that his father died in the attack has long haunted Takeshi because the forces of Jigoku's power have a strong pull on him, almost as if the ninth kami is longing for his soul. Takeshi is careful not to think about it for too long, many Kuni were consumed by the Taint and he does not plan to become the next in the long list of the Lost.

At least his marriage went wonderful. Kuni Mumiko, former Ide Mumiko of the Unicorn, was a marriage that went extremely fortunate for the clans, not only because it strengthened the friendship between the crab and the unicorn, but also because Takeshi and Mumiko got along very well, which might have been due to Mumiko's training as an emissary. Some would say that the marriage has enjoyed Benten's blessing as Mumiko is expecting a child soon. Takeshi cares deeply for his wife and is both excited and anxious of becoming a father.

He serves at Hida Kitusuchi court as the court physician and her spiritual advisor, which means that Takeshi spends most of his time either patching up samurai and ashigaru or searching for wisdom in scrolls, books or the stars. And he is quite content with that, after all he can do things that interest him: studying the human body and taking care of the local kami.

The upcoming wedding makes him nervous. On the one hand, the wedding means that peace will finally be achieved between the houses, on the other hand, the outcome of this wedding may further break the relationship between the clans if anything happens. With a healthy dose of paranoia Takeshi prepares for a delicate time, hopefully everything will end well,......

[Otomo Saisei]

Saisei is a tall and handsome young man, with sharp features, broad shoulders and a serious gaze. A true image of imperial honor and glory. The usual majesty, though, is not present, as he uses plain and traditional clothes that do not bring too much attention to himself. He prefers to do so only when necessary.



Now, passed gempukku, one of the potential young heirs of a lost dynasty strives to reach out to greatness once more. Under the strict servitude to his distant cousin, the Imperial Nakodo Otomo Yusuke, the young Saisei seeks to learn as much as possible

[Ikoma Ren]

Ren was born into a transitive time for the Lion, falling from the graces of the Imperial family and suddenly faced with an oversized army that they could not support. Despite shrinking the size of their forces, the financial strain of keeping so many active samurai in retainer has proven to be a drain on the coffers. To this end, Lion has realigned their strategies, and a new front is waged on, of all things, the hearts and minds of the other Clans. The Lion have gained a reputation for hautiness, and this reputation has led to few true friendships with the other Clans. The Ikoma have sought to change this, and Ren is one of the student of the new approach.

He has been tasked with traveling throughout the Empire, to places where they will accept him, acting as a performer and storyteller to make his way. He takes delight in a good time, leading to spending a touch out of his means, something else that is helped by traveling quite a bit. The wedding of a Crane and Crab make for an interesting opportunity, one where he can gauge the reaction of the other Clans to his presence, and see who else comes to pay their respects.

Oh, and tons of food, sake, women and song. The trials of Duty...

[Fuzake Hifumi]

By all appearances, Hifumi is what one might expect of warrior from the Monkey clan. Her daisho and armor are rather plain, but well maintained. She carries a yari as she travels and is likely prepared to use it when necessary. She is not known for combat prowess, however. Few outside of her clan know much of her at all. She has wandered many places throughout the Empire, but left little of herself behind.

In truth, what most people notice is the monkey who travels with her. Hifumi has named him Dango.

[Yoritomo Katsu]

A serious-faced man, Katsu is either dressed in sturdy traveling clothes when aboard ship or about town, or fine clothes when in court, all in the Mantis style. But while the phrase goes 'clothes make the man', neither outfit seems to change Katsu's dour nature.

Sailor's life has lent him a bit of leanness, but Katsu has closer to a typical courtier build, healthy without being muscular. His features are rough, with trimmed scruff rather than shaved face or full beard. He can manage a charming smile when he tries... which is sometimes.

As First Mate of the Sea Fox, it's his job to be stern, and make sure that the captain's orders are followed. He takes these duties seriously.

HOOKS:

[Yue]

Yue has recently appeared in the area, seemingly wandered in after a long journey on the road a few weeks ago. She isn't particularly impressive in appearances, dressed in sturdy clothing with her long black hair pulled into a simple tie and horsetail. Her form is far from imposing, she is slender and a bit on the short side in stature. She appears to have a no-nonsense demeanour and generally focused on any tasks given to her. Ronin aren't paid to ask questions, after all. Despite her name, she lacks much in smiles.

She is known to earn her keep with her bow as a game hunter for hire for heimen and samurai alike.

[Doji Yuma]

Doji Yuma

Marital Status: Single, unmarried.
Age: 21

Doji Yuma's main job is to stand in the shadows to make others look brighter. The epitome of a courtly shugenja, the clan calls upon his gift mainly to conjure background illusions during theater plays, make the actors look better or fix the hangover of the capricious star of the show. As a reserved and less than ostentatious person himself, he is quite fine with staying two steps away from the spotlight.

Yuma is also known in some circles as a discreet tattoo artist for the nobility. He has still a lot to learn however, as his apprenticeship in Dragon lands has been put on hold due to the unstable political situation there.

The few people that know him well would say he appears to be always looking for answers, in people, in books, but to never find one that truly satisfies him. As pretty much all tattoo artists, he is very much tattooed himself, but not in places that show in public company.

Outside that, very little is known about him. Maybe too little actually. His immediate family is just so bland that people struggle to even remember details about it and even for a shugenja he is a bit overly detached from mundane terrestrial affairs.

[Mirumoto Yamakaze]

An itinerant Mirumoto, Yamakaze was invited to the wedding by his friend Hida Kitusuchi. It wasn't a particularly pleasant journey through Scorpion lands to get down south to the Crab, but he was happy to oblige and find some small measure of a chance to test himself along the way! He is frequently found dressed in muted green kimono that display various mountain scenes, as well as a beaded bracelet that is found in equal frequency between his wrist and holding up his hair in a topknot. Known to be a swordsman of some skill, there are also rumors that the man has a certain spiritual malaise that haunts him.

[Ichiro Taiki]

Build: Towering, tall and burly
Hair: Dark brown, long and usually messy, sometimes with braids. Knotted for unusually formal occasions.
Eyes: Light brown, usually with a quiet and fierce look.

Third cousin to Hida Yoji and Hida Kitusuchi, Taiki is a tower of a man - tall, massive and very strongly built. His look and his voice are a strong contrast to his muscular body - both equally calm and deep, and both giving off a hint of nostalgia - and trauma - from earlier times. The Crab ancestry shared by many Badger is particularly strong in him, which is obvious in his build and also in his favouring of the heavy armour and weapons preferred by the sons of Hida. Like other Badger in this difficult time for the clan, he has spent time in different parts of the Empire. His last 4 years, however, were spent on the wall, and it is clear he is no stranger to at least some of the horrors the Crab faces on a daily basis.

He tends not to be a man of many words, and prefers quieter than noisy environments, but calm music, a good drink and particularly excursions to the wilderness to hunt or only observe the wildlife are sure ways to get him more relaxed and talking. Those who get some more words out of him will notice whatever happened in his past left scars. He mentions frequent nightmares, and seems exceptionally focused on keeping, increasing, and proving his strength - to himself more than anyone else. In his words, his strength is the only thing he can depend on to avoid failing again.

During his time in Crab lands, Taiki has spent quite some time in the province where Fire Shrimp Village is located, and he has developed a blooming friendship with the lady of the Bronze Carp castle in his many times out hunting with her. Her unhappy marriage to Yasuki Yancho makes him worried and frustrated, and he would very much like to help... but he has no idea how.

His relationship with the bridegroom Hida Yoji and with Hida Fuboshi is less close, but he also cares greatly for them as they are links to his Crab ancestry. He is very pleased about the invitation to the wedding, which he hopes will make his cousin (and his family) happy. Surely no great problems should arise during such a fortunate occasion... right?
