[D8 EN] - Looking in (during final festival, open)

It appeared, for now, as all was going well. No threats had made themselves present, there was no scandal between bride and groom, and the Empress had not been attacked - until it inevitably got worse, this was all that could be asked of the fortunes this evening.

Sometimes, it was a senior's job to disappear so that the juniors could enjoy themselves - it was a lesson learned the hard way, despite his relative youth. He wondered if Kintaro was drunk again - in the chaos of the morning, he had forgot to pass on this tale.

On the outskirts of the party, Konohamaru looked in. Such is the way of the shadow with the light.

"Kakita-sama?" the Monkey offered a bow as she approached. "If you have a moment, I would like to properly introduce myself. I am Fuzake Hifumi."

Giving the area one last scan, not much had changed. He could spare some time for civilities.

He bowed to the Monkey samurai, formal and rigid.

"Well met, Fuzake Hifumi-san. This one is Kakita Konohamaru. Have you enjoyed the evening thus far?"

"I have. It is nice, to celebrate hope." she smiled. "And, you? How are you this evening?"

"I am well. Despite what's happened, the actual wedding seems to have gone well."

A rare smile.

"Perhaps the storm I suspect is coming is further away than I think."

"I hope you're right." she nodded. "There are challenges ahead for all of us. We'll need time to prepare."

"Indeed. I remember seeing you divine...something during the first meeting of Ikoma Ren-san's ronin band; have you done it since?"

"A few times." she nodded. "I did so today, after the Emerald Champion's arrival. It was not an optimistic result."

Another nod in return.

"If I've learned anything this wedding, it's to give divinations their due. Would you be alright with telling me what it is, for the road?"

"Where blood is spilled vendetta is born. Some actions cannot be righted until thrice times amends are made. A tree of sorrow is planted and when it blooms there will be a rain of suffering." she recited her interpretation. "Yarrow stick readings are even more vague than my visions. They can be interpreted in many different ways."

"Where blood is spilled vendetta is born..."
His immediate thought is to Otomo Yusuke. And damn, Saisei saw...

"Some actions cannot be righted until thrice times amends are made..."
There were, worryingly, three Oturi heirs. One of whom had been propositioned by the Scorpion, and not embraced.

"...A tree of sorrow is planted and when it blooms there will be a rain of suffering."
That one spoke for itself, truly. The only question would be where.

He sighs deeply, although he is noticeably paler than before.
"Let us hope the spirits take my interpretation as a joke, rather than a suggestion."

"Conflict is coming, Kakita-sama, and I worry that it cannot be avoided." she gave a heavy sigh of her own. "I hope that we will all be ready for it."

His looks is grim.

"It can't."

How he knows, if he knows, is a mystery. Only his unwavering belief in future despair is evident.

She nodded. "Then we must be ready."

A nod.

"Mustn't we always?"

He looks out over the party, again vigilant for any issues or malign intent.

"Maybe it's me, but when I look them rollicking and drunkenly doing whatever, I can't see that future befalling them. It's a nice thought."

"Not only should we be prepared, we should enjoy moments like these." she smiled. "While we can."
