by Dapper Dog
Event Type: Main
Participants: Unlimited (Can be attempted only once.)
Timeslots: Late Evening till Late Night

Description:

Rules: The Crab celebrate the wedding with drinking, food, and carousing! There is dancing and singing late into the night to celebrate the new couple and the union of the two families. The warriors of the Crab don’t hold back as they live life to the fullest for it can be short and often cruel.

Can you keep up?

Optional Step: Before you start you can try and politely decline to join the carousing guests and Crab. This requires an Etiquette + Awareness check at TN 15 and the player can refuse getting super drunk or doing something their ancestors may find shameful. They can skip the next step, essentially avoiding the event.

Doing this is considered Politely ignoring another’s shameful behavior as in the book.

Choose one of the following below for the next step:

Not even Drunk: Make a Stamina check at TN 25, if the player fails they pass out after committing a minor breach of Etiquette. If they wish to really impress they can increase the TN to 40 and try to out drink Fuboshi, if they succeed they gain Jurojin’s Blessing… if they fail well commit a Blasphemous Breach of Etiquette and somehow shame themselves before the Empress and wake up in Fuboshi’s bed.

Ro-Samurai-Bo: Make an Agility + Jujitsu check at TN 25, as the player engages in a fight or brawl with the Crab or other guests. If they succeed, they suffer only 1k1 wounds, and gain Glory equal to wounds suffered, if they fail they suffer 3k1 wounds and gain no Glory. If they increase the TN to 45 they tackle the local sumai champion, if they succeed they gain Blessing of Bishamon, if they fail they are beaten within an inch of their life and end the night at enough wound to be Down and lose .5 Glory.

Hold my Shoju: Make a Strength + Athletics check at TN 25 as the player engages in some kind of death defying action. If they fail they hurt themselves for 2k1 wounds but if they succeed they can gain a 1/1 Crab ally. If they increase the TN to 45 they do something truly death defying and earn the Daredevil advantage if they succeed if they fail they suffer 8k5 wounds from whatever stupid act they were trying to do.

Proper Action: The player makes an Etiquette + Willpower check at TN 20 and shows others that they must act like samurai, they rain on the parade of others and just well are no fun. If successful gain Honor as if Protecting your Clan interest at great risk to yourself, if they fail they get laughed at and lose .4 Glory but if the player increases this to TN 45 and succeed they can gain Paragon of Honor, failure though means there belief in Bushido is shaken and they Earn Failure of Bushido: Honor.

OOC: The Castle is the site of the reception and basically any thread from Late Evening to late Night is during the all night party. Please reply here with your attempts and the time slot.

He would be on the games of the Crab tonight. Mostly because he wanted to keep the friendship between both tied up even in the final moments.
Sanaharu was a man of straight etiquette and a powerful on, however. Composed, proper, and honorable.

As he had been previously working with Jinzo as a deputy, he excused himself from the drinking and debauchery on account of ensuring that no one tried anything malign at the party. Drunken antics were one thing, but the damage that could be done if someone, say, tried to take a cheap shot at the Empress...

And so, he was a vigilant presence.

So there seemed to be alot of the no fun police around. Luckily perhaps Shouji wasn't one of them. I mean it was a party, someone had to party right?

He was several drinks in, when the dare to do something just a little stupid came, and the Captain was more then willing to participate. Luckily he'd worn his sleeveless vest because the stunt called for taking it off and using it to slide down a rope containing streamers hung between the castle wall and a pole in the court yard. His pants kept those below from getting too much of a show, though they were perhaps decorated with falling streamers.

Landing firmly on his feet to a round of applause and a drink, he wandered off to continue his night of merry making. As well as maybe a new shirt. His vest was ruined.

Parties weren't exactly Yue's thing but she figured if she was here and the Crab feast was open, she could eat well for a change. As she milled around the crowds and doing her best to dodge the offers for alcohol, she eventually found herself in a circle of Crabs who seem to be daring each other to do increasingly dangerous acts. Some of them were drunk but were perhaps engrossed in the even to notice that Yue didn't drink her fair share of alcohol. Their attention eventually turned to the quiet ronin in the circle and she did her best to brush of their invitations but eventually gave in as she figured it was probably the price of admission for being at the feast.

She first started with a running backflip, which she accomplished at first but wanted to land on her hands. When it came to putting herself on a handstand, her right hand slipped on the floor and the crashed on her back in an unceremonious thud that made her groan with embarrassment. The Crab would look at her blankly at first before turning away, moving on to far more entertaining things.

Yay party! Yay drinking! Yay dancing!

Unfortunately, Naida was a very contrary and free spirited drunk, so she alternated between butting in to conversations and flirting heavily with people.

"Dango! Dango, get down here! The Crab do not want monkeys climbing all over their castle!"

As the monkey continued to ignore her, Hifumi had no choice but to go after him. With the same ease as her companion, the Monkey scaled the castle wall, climbing higher and higher as onlookers cheered her on. Eventually, both climbers made their way into a window, where the Fuzake rejoined the party.

"Oh, hello Hida-san. Is that drink for me?"

Well... loud parties weren't really Taiki's thing, but this was his Cousin's wedding party, and a number of things that could go wrong had gone very right. So he was really, really happy, and joining in was a natural thing to do.

So was drinking.

And so was joining in when a group of Crab started daring one another to try and lift a large boulder set in one part of the castle.

Some of them managed to nudge it, some managed to at least lift it a bit, but soon it fell down again.

When Taiki's turn came, he asked the large, strong Crab girl besides him to hold his cup, and went at it...

... and up the boulder went. He lifted it off the ground, held it, started walking, then moving faster, carrying it around the group, and even doing a silly dance holding it up as the group cheered before finally releasing it back to the ground with a thud.

"Hurray! Tha's fer Yoji-sama 'en Daidoji Yushoko-sama! Banzai!", he said as he went to fetch his cup back and fill it with Shoju again.

Saisei tries to make the wedding a good place and keeps asking the samurai to do the proper things, nudging here and there the ones he would know. Until, of course, he gets laughed, for whatever reason.

He would have liked to laugh at his own misery, but he simply could not. At this point, he sees it would be senseless to continue working for this event. The marriage had already been consumed and his master's plan fulfilled.

Saisei leaves the castle, reminding how easy they have forgotten how much he and his master had sacrificed for this peace.

Most courtiers would likely look to preserve honor, and show themselves as well composed and above it all/

Ikoma were not those kind of courtier.

"Alright, let's get the bets going on the skinny Lion!" Ren called out. He was certainly going to be the underdog, even against the less challenging opponents. And hey, even if he lost, he hoped it would net some goodwill.

Ren is a paired with a Yaisuke, and they are incredibly even matched. They dig deep, and Ren takes a nasty shot to the ribs, but grimaces through it, forcing a pin to a roar and cheer from the crowd.

[MN Attempt]

Finding herself back at the party after her drink with the Otomo, Yoko manages herself among a group of lower-ranked Crab samurai. They drink, they joke, and they laugh. But what was most important of the night was when she took up a challenge offered by one to pour someone's drink while doing a handstand. Properly boozed up as she was, Yoko was undaunted by the challenge and claimed it. Making her way down the table, nudging the bottle, she got all the way over to the ready and willing participant.

When she went for the pour though, she leaned too far and came crashing down onto and then off the table on her back. It hurt, it looked like it hurt, but when Yoko raised the empty sake cup the slight apprehension in the moment dissipated and they all got a joyous good laugh about it.

She didn't particularly impress anyone, but it was a good time, even if she'd be sore in the morning.

It was never in doubt that Kakita Masao would be part of the fun police at his cousin's wedding. Much of his concern for the last weeks had been the success of the wedding and the safety of everyone surrounding them. With successful completion of this mission nearly achieved, he wasn't about to let something go sideways now.

Still, he understood that Crab parties were rougher affairs than the Crane would allow -- in some ways, as a soldier, he felt closer to the Crab style than his own clan's. But for now it was just business: the tiniest drinks to still seem sociable and not antagonize those who wanted to see his participation, the firm but gentle corrections to those who needed them.

Over the course of the hours he probably didn't gain any friends at all, but at least he didn't seem too much of a stick in the mud.

Doji Soon-ja sat with the other Crane, maintaining a dignified posture as the feast carried on. At the meal itself, she ate a precisely calibrated portion from each dish - a small enough serving to be ladylike, yet large enough to show appreciation of the Crab’s generosity. During the revels afterwards, the elderly lady smiled and nodded along with the music, while pretending not to see the more garish displays of bad behavior from less cultured guests.
