[Day 1 - LA] Family Matters (Closed)

[Hida Daichi]

Daichi arrived at the castle at the time appointed by his mother. He had received her summons this morning and barely held in a sigh but as much of a black sheep as he was he was needlessly disobedient despite what many people might think about him.

The big Hida walked into the meeting room wearing some sturdy comfortable clothes that did his frame a good number of favors in showing off his physique. Daichi looked about with a small easy smile on his face as his eyes scanned the room and if his mother was already there fell to her as he gave an appropriate bow and waited to be addressed.

[Hida Fuboshi]

The soldiers nod at him and direct him to the little mountain’s chambers. Inside once announced he finds his mother seated in a kimono without armor having lunch with a guest that he did not recognize. His mother said, “Finally the fruit of my loins has arrived, my glorious son in all his glory.”

“Join us.”

[Yoritomo Xung-Ji]

The strange woman turned and rose wearing a getup that exposed her many tattoos and was not a traditional kimono. Probably a mixture of foreign clothes and the more familiar. Her skin was tanned, and her hair cut just above the shoulders.

She gave a bow to Daichi and then said, “Captain Yoritomo Xung-Ji of the Drunken Shark, you must be the famous Hida Daichi. Choice, me boy. Very choice.”

“He’ll do.”

She turned back to Fuboshi and added, “Easy to look at as well, see where he gets it.”

[Hida Fuboshi]

“He better have gotten it from me, after the hours of labor I had to go through. Stop tonguing my arse with your prattling praise. Now sit both of you,” Fuboshi commanded.

[Hida Daichi]

Daichi raised an eyebrow at the guest, his eyes scanning her form, the tattoos and odd clothes were very interesting indeed "Mother you have certainly made very, interesting friends while I was away." He said with a grin as he did as he was told and sat where she pointed.

Looking to the Yoritomo "I wasnt aware I was famous, has word of my misadventures and skill in combat made it all the way to Isles of Spice and Silk?"

[Yoritomo Xung-Ji]

The woman smiled and said, “Famous enough, so what would you say if I offered you the chance to sail the seas on the fastest ship in the Mantis fleet? You and me on the open seas killing our enemies and taking whatever we can from those that don’t deserve to have such riches.”

“Serving your family and mine as my husband?”

She shrugged, “My last husband took an arrow to the face so I am in the market and your mother has a spare son that fits my needs.”

[Hida Daichi]

Daichi had never had much of an On so his eyebrows shot up in surprise and he gave the Yoritomo a closer more critical look. "Well, that is certainly an offer I didn't expect when I woke up this morning. I can only assume that Fuboshi-dono has already agreed to such a thing, if im not mistaken what I want in situations like these matters very little." He said with a small smile on his lips.

[Hida Fuboshi]

Fuboshi gave commands but with her family when she wished for them to make their open mind as long as it was what she wanted she would give her opinion. A solid tactic that she employed with her husband and the children to seem less tyrannical but really only made it worse because her opinion was like steel.

She said, “I have an opinion on the matter but if you have a concern, son, speak it.”

[Hida Daichi]

His expression was skeptical but he spoke frankly as always. "Hmm only that I barely know my ass from a sail and having me on a sailing vessel sounds very much like setting an untrained gorilla in the middle of a ship. Big and strong but most in the way and likely to break things. I am a warrior who trusts in his strength of arm enough, this is true and Yoritomo-sama is certainly a rare beauty. I only hope you know what you are getting in this deal."

[Hida Fuboshi]

"The Crab get the support of the strongest navy in the Empire, Crane be damned," she replied tersely.

[Hida Daichi]

"Sorry I wasn't being clear, I meant that Yoritomo-sama knows what she is getting as part of this deal. I would never expect you to enter negotiations without knowing exactly what you wanted out of it mother." He said with a perfectly pleasant smile on his lips.

"I dont like being told what to do, struggle with chains of command, and have a bit too much fondness for drink." He laid out plainly "but I'm fiercely loyal to those that earn it and fight like I was born to do it. Which if you've met my family I pretty much was. If you can put up with my faults you won't find a better more steadfast companion in the Empire."

[Yoritomo Xung-Ji]

“Oh no another do what I want bad boy, of what will I ever do?” the Mantis replied.

“You know how to fight and you served time at one of the most dangerous places in the Empire. Learning the basics of the ship will come. It’s not like we will be at sea the whole time and if you are a shit sailor you can manage the estate and raise the kids you squirt into me,” she responded dryly.

[Hida Daichi]

Daichi smiled at the Yoritomo "Oh i like this one, well we all seem to be on the same page. I'm in."

[Yoritomo Xung-Ji]

"Well that was an easy sell," the Mantis replied.

"There are things that need doing, but since we all agree then I can send word to my Lord and move forward." She glanced to Daichi and said, "Come to the ship at your leisure give you a tour."

[Hida Daichi]

Daichi's smile took a mischievous turn "Well you're an enticing offer Yoritomo-sama, don't need a hard sell when the offers already pretty sweet." He said relaxing a little "don't get me wrong I have reservations and it's a lot to take in but nothing so strong as to keep me from saying yes."

[Yoritomo Xung-Ji]

"If you can make the Phoenix regret their life choices and give me an heir, then we have a good partnership ahead of us," she responded.

"Hida-dono, by your leave."

[Hida Fuboshi]

Fuboshi gestured and then once she was gone said with a narrowing of her eyes, "That seemed too easy, your reservations?"

[Hida Daichi]

Daichi watched the Yoritomo leave and turned back towards his mother an eyebrow raised "I may be a free spirited screw up most of the time but that doesn't mean I can't do whats best for the clan when it matters." He grinned "plus she's hot and no Doji maiden like you you stuck Yoji with. Why would I fight being married to a beautiful woman who seems to be ok with my 'short comings'" he said emphasizing the word in a way that said he didn't think of them that way.

"Now I had it in my head I'd be serving our clan a bit longer and would be stationed at the Wall for at least a few more years before being shuffled to guard duty somewhere boring or being sent away to another clan. Becoming a pirate" he cleared his throat "excuse me privateer is certainly not the career path I imagined but its a better fate then some."

He paused a little "Whose idea was it? Yours or hers?"

[Hida Fuboshi]

"She has been... insistent for months now and I was resistant for months because I was not sure if you were ready. But it seems maybe I misjudged you," she said thoughtfully.

[Hida Daichi]

Daichi nodded his look still a bit thoughtful, he may nit have been the sharpest katana in the stand but he was fairly perceptive. Tended to notice things "Does it seem weird to you though? Why so insistent on a third born, prestigious as our line is, who is known for trouble making. Just seemes....odd. Yoritomo-sama, fetching as she is surely has her pick of suitors."

[Hida Fuboshi]

“It may have crossed my mind but it seems her previous was within the Clan and not so prestigious. Mantis affairs are not my concern. Crab affairs matter most and that is what this is all about, there are other weddings lined up between Mantis and Crab,” she said looking at some papers.

“Yours will probably be among the first.”

[Hida Daichi]

"Hopefully some of those are pulling some bushi into our clan rather than giving promising ones away. It'll take at least ten Mantis bushi to replace Yoji-san and I at the Wall." He said with a confident grin.

"As far as my marriage goes, you know me if I see something funny I'm going to look into it but like I said when Yoritomo-sama was here none of my hesitation is enough to make me say no. She's a pretty choice catch, I won't fight too hard not to mount her!" He said with a laugh.

[Hida Fuboshi]

"You can spare me the details, dismissed," she replied with a wave of her hand.

[Hida Daichi]

Daichi smirked "a pleasure as always." and turned leaving his mother with her thoughts and plans
