[Day 6, Mid-Morning, Sea Fox] Meeting the Captain

[Yue]

After the day had seemingly fixed itself, Yue could only proceed with business as usual around here. She was a bit wary however, wondering if things were magically reverted without her knowing. As the day went on, she did start to wondering the opposite and wondered if what she had experienced previously was just a figment of her imagination.

She meandered on board of the Sea Fox and gave a glance around to see if there were any familiar faces around.

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

Shouji might not be the most famialr of the faces aboard the ship, he was up and about at this hour though. Spotting the somewhat famialr form of the ronin Yue, he raised his hand in a wave. He knew that she had been staying here, but he hadn't had much chance to talk with her.

But then his days were seldom his own lately.

[Yue]

Yue slowly approached Shouji and greeted him with a bow, "Good morning, Captain Tsuruchi-sama. I know we haven't really talked but you've been busy as of late with the parties. It's been a strange couple of days, to say the least."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"That it has been, Yue-san." He agreed with a smile and a polite bow to the ronin. "Though I should of taken time before this to speak with you."

"Are you settling in well?"

[Yue]

"I should have taken the time to speak to you...which I am. I have spoken to a few of your crew and hires but never directly with you. I can't exactly move in if I didn't get an official okay from you, right?"

She slouched slightly with a frown, "I would have settled in by now if the day hadn't kept on repeating, actually. So it's part of the reason why I'm here, to ask you face to face if it would be fine for me to settle here. I won't be in the way much and I will likely disappear by the time you sail for the seas."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"Make yourself at home, Yue-san." Shouji replied with a smile. "I've no problem with you finding room and board here until our time here ends " Beyond that though might take another talk.

"Though I suppose I could ask you a bit about yourself while you're here? Hiw you make your way in the Empire for example."

[Yue]

She gave a shrug, "I don't think my story will be as grand or impressive as Yoko-san, Tsuruchi-sama. I've mostly travelled by foot or wherever the heimen can take me on board their wagon. This is easily the furthest south I've been to so far and I expected interesting but not this interesting...prior to that, I've been mostly in the heart of the Empire in the Lion and Crane lands. The Crane lands mostly dried up on work, so I found myself here."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"Suppoesdly there is always work to be foudn amonf the Crab." The young man observed with a slight smile. "If not that then, perhaps the Mantis. Ships are oftern willing to taken on another hand that's willing to work and doesn't mind the water." He didn't think she would have much luck in the lands of the Lion and it was likely why she had left.

"I was more referring to what kind of work yo do though. If that's not too rude to ask."

[Yue]

"That's what I keep hearing from everyone around me but I haven't found too much work yet. I was mostly just staying afloat at the inn with chores. The last few days have made the search awkward around here. If the Mantis islands are less weird that's something to consider. But..." she said with a frown as she looked away, "I haven't really been on the seas or sailed on a ship before."

She nodded, "I mostly do hunter work at the moment for both heimen and samurai. Either my clients want some catches for food or some to pad out the glory of their hunting trips, that sort of stuff. I'm not too picky about jobs, however."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"I think jobs may be easier the further south you go, but it also gets more dangerous from what I understand. As for the Mantis islands being less weird, to my knowledge they are and they're prettier too." He offered with a grin.

"Alot of the work is on or around boats though, and while there is hunting done it's not as common." He paused for a moment thinking. "There may be opportunities in the land of the Tsuruchi though."

[Yue]

"Oh, right," she murmured when she Tsuruchi lands were brought up, realizing that not all the Mantis holdings were in the sea, "I imagine there's more hunting done there but also more archers, if the Family's reputation are anything to go by? There might be less of a demand if the locals can do it easily themselves. I admit my archery isn't special, no special technique to speak of, but I'm pretty decent at it."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"Depends on what you are looking to hunt. One of my elder sisters for example is a bounty hunter, it's a tough job and it's nice to have an extra set of hands around you can trust to bring the culprit in." He reached a hand up to rub at his chin. "I couldn't exactly garuntee you that kind of work, but it you are good with a bow. It might make it easier to find it."

"The Tsuruchi tend to respect good archers."

[Yue]

"Funny, enough, I do have that sort of lead on a job at the moment with Yoko-san. I don't know if it's considered a bounty or something else," she gave a shrug of her shoulder. It was hard to comment without properly seeing it through. "That's something that I could consider, I've never really worked with a bounty hunter. I suppose most of my job were just hunting unspecific animals or providing security. It seems almost the same, right?"

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"In a way I imagine, the hard part in the bounty business from what i understadn is brining people back alive." At least from what he heard. "Not that such is always possible or needed." He paused a moment thoughtfully. "I suppose it depends on where the work comes from on if it's a bounty or not."

"Though I suppose I am not exactly an expert on the suject." He lifted a hand to push a strand of hair behind his ear. "It's honest work though, and could eventually lead to other opportunities."

[Yue]

"That would be something new...most of my work doesn't exactly open up doors or lead to another path. People don't exactly hunt every day or eventually they learn that it's easier to do it themselves. I'm not exactly complaining," she gave a shrug, "I probably wouldn't know what to do if I were shackled to a longer contract. It hasn't quite happened to me yet."

"While your sister is bounty hunting, I suppose you've taken to the sea with your own boat? May I ask how that came to be?"

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"It's something to think about though isn't it?" Maybe even consider wenr unsaid. "Though I suppose you may also just like the traveling."

"As for me? It was an arrangement between my parents. My father wanted his first son to be a man of the Sea. My mother didn't want me to be just another sailor." He smirked. "So I'm more or less the result of their decisions, not that I mind it."

[Yue]

"It's not really a like of travelling..." she sighed, although she was also at a loss to explain what it was exactly, "I suppose connections just seem rather foreign to me, especially when you've been raised being pushed from one thing to another. So, I guess maybe permanency seems like a foreign concept to me after a while."

"I think many people do things as a result of their parent's decisions, not many people succeed however. The fact that you've manage to get a ship with your own crew is pretty impressive, especially when you get to travel pretty much anywhere on the seas. I can tell you that there isn't that much freedom on the road, even as a ronin."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

Most of the Sea waa considered the domain of the Mantis which certainly helped. "I think that makes sense. I make connections with my crew but most of my other ones are fleeting. It's not like I am.on shore often enough to make and sustain many friendships." He paused a moment. "Though I suppose my take of it is not really like yours."

"I will say I do enjoy that freedom to travel though, and part of me truly wishes to go farther. Though I think any such undertakings will be for a distant point in the future."

[Yue]

She looked to the direction of the seas before looking back to Shouji. "Where have you been and where would you want to go? It seems that your crew is pretty well travelled but I don't know if it was under your command or you might have just a really experienced and colourful crew."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"I've been up and down this coast several times." He admitted after a moment. "Though I haven't stopped in every village or port."

He smirked. "As for where I intend to go? Well, let's just say I intend to go farther." He hadn't decided the destination yet. "Or perhaps beyond would be a better word."

[Yue]

She narrowed her eyes, almost finding it hard to imagine there being a world beyond Rokugan at all, "I kind of find it hard to imagine needing to go anywhere else other than the Empire, especially when you yourself haven't seen everything yet. Were you thinking of going somewhere like the Burning Sands or something? I don't know if they have water there or did you mean perhaps going toward freshwater in the Empire?"

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"Needing and wanting are two entirely different things." Shouji replied with a faint smile. "I may not need to but I want to. As for where of it? There is more to the world then the burning sands, nations that you can reach by the sea. Or so I understand."

He shook his head. "Who knows if I will ever go though. It's not exactly the kind of thing you try on a whim. As you said too, there is a lot of the empire I still haven't seen. Some of which I can make it to by sailing up river."

[Yue]

"I suppose that duty and obligation might have shackled to where you really want to go?" she said with a curious glance, "I really didn't know that there were other nations...much less what you would possibly want to do in them. I could imagine a lot of awkward conversations and headaches as you attempt to communicate with each other. But, you could consider travelling down the river into the Empire and maybe the River of Gold. I don't know if you could take the same ship, unfortunately."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"Likely not." Shouji replied with a half smilee. "The Sea Fox isn''t really built for river travel. A little ways up stream liekly wouldn;t be a problem but we couldn;t make it too far." There just wouldn't be the room for the big ship.

"As to other nations though. From what I understand there are all kinds of them, though we don't have much contact." What contact they had wasn't really civil either. "But I agree there might be some headaches, but wouldn't it be amazing to see it? To see hw they build things and what they eat amogn other things. You see a bit of that between different clans. It must be hugely different between other nations."

[Yue]

Yue gave a slow nod at that, "It would probably be strange for both you and your ship if you left them for too long. Going on the river would require whole other ship, You would have to ask if you leave your crew or bring them with you too. I don't know if you could really afford to leave a ship sitting around for days."

She gave a small shrug of her shoulders, unsure about the prospect. "When you're used to seeing all sorts of different things, the unusual might be something you seek? Going to the Crab lands from the Crane was more than enough change for me."
