Missing in Action (Day 3 Early Morning)

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

One of the benefits of a crew that was close was that when something was wrong it often quickly got reported. So when someone went to relieve Tsuruchi Biji of duty and found him missing the Captain was soon to know.

With a soft frown he looked into finding out what may have happened, dereliction of duty wasn't his soliders wasy after all. Which meant calling on the more experienced members of his crew, as well as those on watch the night before.

[Yoritomo Koemi]

Koemi glanced at the ports and then back to Shouji. "Not even the Scorpion would be so bold to assassinate one of ours, right?" she asked, scratching at her throat. "Could it be that we upset the sea somehow? Been at port too long?" She clasped her hands together and bowed her head in silent prayer.

"I don't think there are enough Scorpion here to attempt something like that, not to mention we aren't even at War." The Captain replied with a frown.

"And we've been at port longer then this.. So I can't ima6it's that. I'll have to consult Meiko or Minari though."

[Yoritomo Tetsuo]

"Oy, Captain." Greeted the Last Mate. "What's going on? Heard something about someone missing? Took too long for shore leave?"

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"I don't know. Apparently they reported for their duty shift last night, then weren't here to be relieved this morning."

He made a sign against misfortune. "Biji-san never seemed the type to be derelict in his duty, so I'm wondering what could of happened."

[Moshi Meiko]

Meiko's head pops out from a small hatch

"Biji-san!?!?! But he would save mochi for me when he'd come back from shore leave. He was really nice and sweet and sometimes he swore and drunk too much but that's okay because as a Mantis he had a reputation to maintain!"

Looking between her crew
"We have to find him and solve this mystery!"

"Well, he was last spotted on deck from what I heard." The Tsuruchi offered after a moment. "No harm in havign a look around and seeing what we might be able to find."

"Maybe you could try communing with the Kami too, Meiko?"

[Moshi Meiko]

Meiko launches herself out of the hatch and hurries over to the side of the boar, going through her pockets until she finds a small offering of powdered dyes which she drops into the water below before kneeling on the deck and beginning a slow chant, imploring the water kami to come forth and answer questions.

A bubbling chorus of voices rang in her ear, “Hey… sup, you called or something? I’d wave but I am like always waving.”

Meiko giggles, probably looking slightly unhinged
"It's okay, I will wave at you!"
And she does, enthusiastically

"Honourable spirit I have come to you with questions. Last night a human sat on this boat looking at all around him, but then something happened and he is no longer on the boat, can you show us what happened to him?"

“Oh yeah… it was a bummer the thing from the deep with all the eyes took him. It then went back to the deep places,” the spirit replied as a crashing of waves.

[Moshi Meiko]

Meiko makes a sound like a chew toy.

"Oh. Can you show us what the thing with many eyes looked like?"

She gets a brief impression of blurry images of a large creature with gnashing sharp teeth many limbs, larger than a man and so many eyes on the upper body.

Another louder squeak

"Thank you spirits, your answers have been very...helpful."
Meiko leans forward and sprinkles more dye into the water
"Please go with my offerings."

Looking back at the crew with her face completely white and her eyes huge
"Uh....guys?"

That wasn't a good look, and The Captain's lips moved into a thin line. "Yes, Meiko?" He asked calmly

Meiko stars tearing up
"Biji-san is dead! A huge horrible monster with lots of arms and covered in eyes grabbed him and took him into the ocean!"

[Yoritomo Koemi]

"By the Fortunes, it was something from the waters," Koemi said, clutching onto her amulet. She trembled in her spot, gritting her teeth until she couldn't hold it in anymore. "Oh goddd!"

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"I suppose we have something to keep an eye open for." The Captain replied, keeping calm even as the wave of fear, anger, and sadness gripped his belly.

"Is there any waters we can put in place as we try to find a way to find this Monster and kill it." At least that waa the Captain's plan.

[Yoritomo Tetsuo]

"A monster? Sugoi!"

Something to slay!

"...We should figure out how to keep watch without dying though. We don't have enough crew for that."

[Yoritomo Koemi]

"Would keeping watch in pairs work?" Koemi asked, scratching the back of her head. "I can stay aboard for the day, at least."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"Might be wise, both suggestions." Shoujj replied after a moment.

"At least until we find a way to scare it off or kill it." He added with a nod towards Tetsuo.
