Jun Age: 18

Jun is a peasant girl that works at the inn, she fulfills many roles of hostess, maid, and cook on occasion. She works hard and is the niece of Oshii, and seems the most likely to take on running the Inn when she retires. She is a pleasant woman with a good head for numbers and very polite. She dresses simply as she is usually working and rarely takes time for herself.

Oshii Age: 61
Faction: Lowborn/Heimin

Oshii has run the Inn for nearly three decades ever since her husband died during a pox outbreak. Her children are farmers and did not show interest in running the inn but her niece has stepped up and she has been a good worker. Oshii has a wealth of local knowledge and gossip and is willing to part with that knowledge for paying customers at her Inn.

Kojitsu Age: Early 30's
Faction: Ronin

Having arrived just before many of the other guests, Kojitsu stays at the Inn doing odd jobs for Oshii around the Inn. He also spends time at the shrine helping the nuns and monks. Kojitsu seems a fairly pious man and for a ronin strangely honorable and well behaved. He is never seen at the Hole or even drinking at the Inn, nothing harder than tea.

Despite that the local Crab that have seen his swordplay seem impressed by the ronin, and wonder if he is going to stick around for the 40 goblin winter.

Hida Yancho

Age: Early 30's
Faction: Crab
Status: 2.0

Hida Yancho born of the Yasuki is a handsome man in his early thirties and trained for the court though mostly in matters of running a stable province and region. A good match for the martial minded Hida Kotusuchi, he has a good head for numbers and is charming, usually. The early years of the marriage were great but the lack of children and pregnancy issues has caused a rift between the two.

In recent years he has turned to drinking and hanging out at the Hole, and having sometimes indiscrete encounters. He is still liked by many but the tensions in the castle can be high at times especially when the provincial daimyo is involved.

Hiruma Jinzo

Age: 51
Faction: Crab
Status: 3.0

Born under a troubled moon, Hida Jinzo has never had an easy life. His parents died when he was young, his wife died in childbirth with his child and his second wife died during a goblin attack. The only good thing was his son, that he was proud of and even now thinks well of as the young man has taken a position at the Wall.

Here Jinzo works as the law, technically not a Magistrate, he fulfills that role in the region under Hida Kitusuchi the final authority here. A bit eccentric and manic, Jinzo never gives up on a case once he starts it and he will find his culprit.

Ikeda Hiro

Age: 27
Faction: Imperial
Status: 6.5

A life of nobility and the sword, this is what Ikeda Hiro was born into. A master swordsman of the Ikeda school he is both a teacher and first sword of the royal honor guard. He personally trained many of the best Ikeda bushi of this generation before he was mysteriously reassigned about a year ago ago.

Recently turning up in Crab lands, unlike many Imperials Hiro is fairly down to earth and likable. He has a mischievous streak and tends to eschew protocol for getting the job done but he is still noble and expects the best of others. His time among the ronin has given him a new perspective on things and time will tell how that affects him going forward.

Usagi Yeijiri

Age: 31
Faction: Hare Clan, Emerald Champion
Status: 9.0

Not much is known of her young life but she was a distinguished bushi among the Hare by the age of 25 and worked with the Emerald Magistrates for three years after that before ascending to the position of Emerald Champion at the age of 29 winning the final duel against Shiba Horatsu.

Her first year was joyous until someone tried to end her life, leaving her family and only child dead. That event changed her, hardened her, and made her become a woman seeing shadows in every corner. She has turned the Emerald Magistrates into a network of secret police and is fond of appearing when least expected and dispensing justice with finality. Her style is not loved but it keeps the clans on their toes and she seems to curry no friends only fear. If they fear her then they will not act against her, seems to be her mantra.

There are always enemies; some in the light and some in the shadows.
