(D1 LM) A Clean Slate (Open)

[Moshi Meiko]

“Excuse me! ‘Scuse me! Important business!”
A small human shaped figure carrying a stack of towels with various soaps and lotions precariously balanced on top hurtles into the bathhouse, apologising and dodging around various other patrons.

Meiko’s leave was approved and her chores were done and that meant only one thing. A months overdue bath was on the cards.

With blistering speed the Mantis sets to work cleaning herself in the outer rooms, and there are a few horrified murmurs of
“Oh that wasn’t a tan, that was just dirt!... It doesn’t stop coming off! It’s everywhere!”
But eventually a considerably paler Moshi emerges and jumps into the baths, splashing a few patrons who shoot glares her way

“Sorry! Sorry! So sorry, it was an emergency.”

Now could finally begin the overdue soak.

[Hida Daichi]

In stark contrast to the small energetic, bordering frenetic, Mantis a a massive mountain of muscle moved slowly through the space, carefully cleaning himself at a lackadaisical pace. when he was happy with his progress he moved out to the bath area and stretched with a yawn having just awoken less than an hour ago he rubbed his eyes sleepily before moving to the bath with no particular haste.

He hadn't worried with a towel for the journey so he slipped immediately into the bath, displacing a far bit of water as he did so. A long content sigh escaped his lips as he felt the warmth of the water wash over him.

After a moment of relaxing the big Hida opened his mismatched eyes and scanned around, noting a new face he smiled and nodded "Morning Samurai-san, you seem a welcome new face. Here for the wedding?"

“Hai! I’m Meiko of the Moshi, it’s wonderful to meet you-“
Meiko looks over and the slowly cranes her neck to take in the giant crab with the scary eyes

Sounding thoroughly intimidated
“Crab-san.”
So this was what the Hida looked like!
Meiko politely looks away, but keeps glancing back at Daichi every few moments.

“Hai! I’m Meiko of the Moshi, it’s wonderful to meet you-“
Meiko looks over and the slowly cranes her neck to take in the giant crab with the scary eyes

Sounding thoroughly intimidated
“Crab-san.”
So this was what the Hida looked like!
Meiko politely looks away, but keeps glancing back at Daichi every few moments.

His eyes were indeed odd one a deep chocolate brown, not unusual for his family, but the other was a bright gold color that stood out fairly well. The large Hida chuckled as he saw her reaction, it was a throaty rumbling sound that matched his deep voice well

"Well met Moshi-san! Always happy to make acquaintance with an ally! Try not to let the eye bother you too much, the Kami knew I was destined to stand out and just felt the need to give me a little push is all." he said with a mischievous grin as he studied the smaller samurai's face.

His eyes were indeed odd one a deep chocolate brown, not unusual for his family, but the other was a bright gold color that stood out fairly well. The large Hida chuckled as he saw her reaction, it was a throaty rumbling sound that matched his deep voice well

"Well met Moshi-san! Always happy to make acquaintance with an ally! Try not to let the eye bother you too much, the Kami knew I was destined to stand out and just felt the need to give me a little push is all." he said with a mischievous grin as he studied the smaller samurai's face.

Meiko is clearly embarrassed to be caught staring and drops her gaze to the water
"L-likewise! You definitely stand out you're uh.."
She spreads her arms horizontally and then vertically
"A very standing out samurai. You must be a local?"

"No need to be demure Moshi-san, you're more polite than most by half! You haven't warded yourself against evil spirits or immediately left the bath so you're starting off better than most new people I meet!" he bellowed a laugh and nodded "In a way I suppose, I grew up around here but I've spent the last couple of years stationed at the wall, so this is a bit of a homecoming for me."

"No need to be demure Moshi-san, you're more polite than most by half! You haven't warded yourself against evil spirits or immediately left the bath so you're starting off better than most new people I meet!" he bellowed a laugh and nodded "In a way I suppose, I grew up around here but I've spent the last couple of years stationed at the wall, so this is a bit of a homecoming for me."

"Oh, well that would just be rude. Baths are a special place and they should not be contaminated by rudeness."
The Crab's good humour is infectious and Meiko does shyly stop trying to curl into a ball

"The Wall? You must be a great warrior indeed, everyone knows the greatest warrior either sail the seas or man the wall. Oh, and I guess the Daidoji aren't bad either since they do a little of both sometimes."

Daichi smiles a bit seeing the relaxing of her posture, mismatched eyes apparently as perceptive as they are odd. He nods to her statement "Hai! I would say I am quite the mighty warrior indeed, the bane of many dark creatures of shadow and crusher of Crab enemies! But here I am just the brother of the Groom taking time to celebrate a joyous occasion. As for the Daidoji, they are stout enough warriors....for Crane." he said after a pointed pause.

"Is Moshi-san a priestess like most of her kin? That's about as much as I know about the name, lots of priests and priestesses and such. Usually do weather prayers on ships yeah?" He was no scholar but he had learned a thing or two about his allies.

"Will you be next to be married? Maybe someone who is not a blushing Doji maiden?"

Daichi burst out laughing at the Moshi's discomfort "Apologies Moshi-san, I'm a horrible flirt and a sucker for a pretty face which you most certainly have. Far to pretty to end up with a rough Crab such as myself!" He said with another chuckle.

"So how long have you been sailing the sea in pursuit of adventure and glory?"

"Hai, I'm not used to being flirted with. It's not bad but it really is surprising!"

"I've been sailing for six whole months! I'm not the best sailor, but I'm learning and I haven't fallen overboard once."

"That is admirable though, I think, I dont actually know much about sailing. Well anything really, I've been on small fishing boats but never really sailed on a ship. Perhaps you'll have to teach me what you've learned before you leave." He said grinning.

"Lots of practice! I ran into things a lot when I started, but over time I learnt how to avoid all the obstacles on the ship. The mast really is in a very inconvenient position so it's best to start there and work outward."

Daichi shook his head not sure if this is the best primer on seafaring life "Im surprised they didn't give you more thorough training for life on the ship and sailing if your duty was to serve on a vessel."

"Oh it's nice, very safe and clean and you know everyone. But it's also tiny and far away from everyone and everything. I spent my whole childhood dreaming of travelling and seeing all the places I'd read about, but then my gempukku happened and I wasn't going anywhere unless I chose to do something. So I did!"
