Daichi grimaced a little but nodded "Nice, safe, and tiny are three words I never like associating with where I am. Ill take dangerous and rough any day. Boredom is worse than danger in my opinion. I can see why you did what you did. I'd have probably done the same thing if I were in your sandals."

"Thank you! It makes me feel a lot better about my decision. There's just a lot of Rokugan to see and I'm already 19 and have hardly seen any of it. What if I never see Kyuden Hida or the Spine of the World or a Unicorn ger? Fireshrimp village is just another interesting place to now add to and tick off from my list."

"They are a bit of a dour lot aren't they!" He said with a laugh "not sure how I got to be the way I am growing up with them, probably the work of my old man. He was always a larger than life kinda guy, big personality, life of the party wherever he went."

"You honor me Moshi-san! My family is all pretty big my brother Yoji-san is about the same height but even bulkier than me, my sister is tall and powerful but still very pretty, she takes after mom most in the looks department, though my mother's days of being a great beauty are about ten or twenty years behind her." He explained with a good natured smile.

"What of you Moshi-san? Is your whole family as beautiful as yourself?"

My family is all pretty big my brother Yoji-san is about the same height but even bulkier than me, my sister is tall and powerful but still very pretty, she takes after mom most in the looks department, though my mother's days of being a great beauty are about ten or twenty years behind her." He explained with a good natured smile.

"What of you Moshi-san? Is your whole family as beautiful as yourself?"

“Family gatherings sound quite intimidating, you must need large homes! Um, I have three sisters and they all look like me... same height too. It was a pretty active home. I think mom and dad got pretty tired with us.”
Dropping her voice to a whisper, as if imparting a great secret

Have to plan houses to fit all of us large Hida in them comfortably!" he said with a chuckle shaking his head "Gathering may intimidating for outsiders or ones so small, such as yourself but for us they are quite normal, when you grow up among Hida its not so daunting!"

He listened intently and leaned in closely when she dropped her voice, a wide Cheshire grin appeared on his face at her story "I knew there was a reason I liked you Moshi-san! That's delightfully mischievous of you, I would have loved to pull off such pranks but unfortunately my brother and I only share a passing family resemblance."

Someone you deem hyperactive would be a sight indeed! And I can scarcely think of someone smaller, you're already so petite Moshi-san! So much energy stuffed in such a small package its a wonder you don't burst!" he said with another loud laugh

Meiko vibrates happily, seeming to confirm Daichi's words
"I might be small but I still have the energy of a whole samurai, it means I have more to spare!....Honestly our ship's average height is very low, but we make up for it with lots of energy! Not that you don't have plenty Hida-san, you are at least as energetic seeming as any Moshi I know, and that's with a much larger package!"

"We're not merchants, since that isn't really proper for a samurai, but we do transport goods and people from different ports up and down the coast. Sometimes we carry urgent messages or move really important cargo, the like the imperials who have come to visit. The other kobune I think, they fight much more, they're all warriors."
The Moshi had a sneaking suspicion they were out and out privateers but that hardly seemed polite to voice.

"So you think they're pirates if im reading between the lines right." He said with a grin "and you all are essentially a cargo or transport ship. As honorable a pursuit as any other I presume. Probably not big fans of pirates then or I guess privateer is the more polite word you all use."

Meiko sinks down into the water.
“It wouldn’t be polite for me to say. We’re family with the Mantis now, I’m sure anything they do is for the good of the Clan.”

That elicited another laugh from the big Hida "Not to worry Moshi-san! I won't go tellin in ya to your lord or the other Mantis that you're not a fan of piracy. I have no particular problem with it but to each their own is what I always say!"

Weakly”it just seems so mean. Wouldn’t it be nicer to be welcomed into a port than everyone running from you? The Yoritomo probably understand it better.”

Daichi shrugged "Its a mean world out there Moshi-san, sometimes you have to be mean in return to make it. If I remember correctly the Mantis had been drifting away from piracy before the war and after the lion pressed them into service and lost the Mantis were forced to take what they needed again. Nothing wrong with getting by on your own strength. Not ideal mind you but with limited options..." he finished with another shrug.

"I won't say you're wrong Hida-san, but...I don't want that to be my way. When you're as small as I am it's probably best not to try to get by on strength."

Meiko looks down at her hands as if wondering whether they were capable of electric pew.
"I guess if I had to, if someone attack the boat or captain-sama...."
