Wedding at Fire Shrimp Village an L5R PbP

Two Crab samurai seem less than amused with a ronin tossing her papers on the ground and one being excessively cruel and demanding she pick it up and offer it nicely even though she seems to have done so respectfully the first time.

One said, “She’s probably a Lion trying to sneak into our lands, that sword is too fine for a shit kicking wolf girl like her.”

The other chuckled and said, “Well if her papers are not in order maybe we can offer her a discount, take her out back and check her thoroughly.”

Sutorenja scowled and said, “I would like to see you try.” Her hand now hovering dangerously close to the hilt of her blade.

OOC: Open to the first two players, this is in lieu of the event in the same time slot.

"Was what I've heard about the Crab incorrect?" Hifumi interjected. She'd traveled with the ronin. "I thought warriors were appreciated in these lands."

"Please good Crab, let perish the thought that a Lion would try to hide on entrance to such a happy occasion." Ren offers a large grin and an elaborate bow. "Ikoma Ren, at your service. How fare you good sirs?"

He offers a quick wink in the Ronin's direction.

The Lion got their attention and they focused on Ren and one said, "So you are admitting to being a spy then, Lion-san?"

The other gestured at the Monkey samurai and said, "This is none of your business, minor clanner."

"Ah, you jovial fellows! Such wit!" Ren beams at the pair. "I would be a rather poor spy to come before you openly showing my mon, with papers in order. No no, I'm here to celebrate this joyous occasion with you, to bring joy and levity to such an occasion!"

Ren motions to the shamisen on his back. "I am here to help all of us make merry!"

OOC: Ren can make a Sincerity + Awareness check at TN 20.

"My companion and I may pass then?"

"Is this ronin in your employ?" the Crab soldier asked Monkey samurai.

"Not at all." she shook her head. "We met in Sparrow lands."

"Your travel papers?" the Crab said with a gruff voice holding out her hand.

"Come now noble sirs, if the paperwork is in order for that one" Ren makes a dismissive gesture, "why not add more to the merry making? Does it not only show more of the grandiosity of this event, the glory of the Great Crab Clan?"

Ren's smile never wavers, nor does his enthusiasm.

The Crab frowned looking at the Lion and then the ronin and back. By now the ronin had removed her hand from hovering over the hilt.

"You prepared to answer for her if she causes any problems, Lion-san?"

She offered her papers.

Ren pauses for a beat, as if the question had caught him off guard. "If she agrees to my chaperoning. Do you, ronin-san?"

Sutorenja frowned and said, “I do not need a chaperone, but if that will make the Crab feel more at ease then I am not opposed to it. I assure you my papers are in order.”

"I am here to bear witness to coming events, nothing more." she offered a respectful bow.

She gave the papers back and said, “Both of you get on… you too wolf. Keep your noses clean and we won't have any problems. You understand? Now get moving before we change our minds.”

"Thank you." Hifumi dipped her head and continued on. Dango made a chattering noise.

Ren bows and moves on, trying to keep the Ronin close by. "Well, I have given my word about the conduct of a stranger. However, I do find myself in a-" Ren looks back at the guards "potentially dangerous land without a yojimbo. Perhaps there is a partnership to be made Ronin-san."

Ren pauses. "Please pardon me, I don't know your name"

"Sutorenja," she said to the Lion looking over her shoulder at the Crab before taking a deep breath and looking forward.

"If you are in need of a yojimbo, I would be honored. My mother always spoke highly of the Ikoma."

"I think this will be a very eventful wedding." Hifumi said. "Hopefully, not more than we are prepared for."

She looked at the Monkey samurai and that removed her smile, remembering the prophetic seizure from a few days ago. She really hoped it was not that eventful, because then she would be dead.

"Well met Sutorenja-san." Ren bows once again. "I do hope that a yojimbo is as unnecessary as I as your chaperone, but only the Fortunes know for sure."

His expression softens a bit, " I am glad to hear of such things of the Ikoma. It is part of my duty to ensure that we live up to the standard that precedes us"
