(D5 LE) Nightingales (Closed)

[Asahina Sanaharu]

He puts his hand on his fan and draws it by impulse, but lets it rest aside. No meaning to hide your emotions here.
"The curse lasts four days. This would mean that the day may repeat once more."

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

"If it has not been broken," Yuuwaku agrees--in part.

"But, if you knew there would be no consequence, Sana-kun, what would you do with tonight?"

[Asahina Sanaharu]

"I'm not sure on this, Yuuwaku-chan... I would rather not mourn what I may not have again. Besides, I declared myself just today."

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

"Ah, there's the thing! Is it better to have and lose or never to have?"

She smiles.

"Remember when that came up in class?"

[Asahina Sanaharu]

He smiles back. "Because you do remember I made my work upon continuous wins and losses?"

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

She laughs lightly. "There are times I miss the Academy very much. Others...well, I'd not have been able to find some of the dances I have had I stayed too close to it."

She considers. "Shall I dance for you while you play for me?"

[Asahina Sanaharu]

He nods, taking his biwa. "I could sing along, or not. Depends on the dance... The melody... Yuuwaku-chan, do you know which music makes company for the dance of earlier?"

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

"Which dance, Sana-kun?" she asks. "I dance many, after all."

[Asahina Sanaharu]

He smiles lightly. "The one we danced together."

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

Yuuwaku nods and mentions the name of a tune she knows but that her player does not. "But that dance is better danced with a partner," she says. "I shall do what I can."

[Asahina Sanaharu]

"Oh, no. Then dance one you may dance alone, Yuuwaku-chan, so I can properly make company with my music."

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

She nods.

"Call the tune; I'll know which dance to do."

Her fan finds its way into her hand.

[Asahina Sanaharu]

He takes his biwa on his lap, adjusting it and commencing a generic, courtly, spring tune that slowly develops in some faster-paced bastardization.

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

Yuuwaku dances along, following easily and eschewing rolling because of how time has passed elsewhere. The privacy opens up more options for her dance; the company closes some of them off--it wouldn't do for him to have a nosebleed, she thinks--but her hips gyrate, her legs open up space, her arms trace graceful shapes, her fan calls attention to her frame and her form and the easy motions through which she puts them.

Where it was before a spring tune, it swapped to a summer one, then an autumn one, finally to a winter one. The music got calm again as the traditional seasons melodies. But back to spring, it was again more fast-paced, summer's faster than spring's, autumn's faster than winter's...

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

Yuuwaku follows the changing tempos flawlessly, and as it accelerates, glimpses of her calves begin to peek out of her robes. Her fan still highlights the motions of her hips, the lift of her chest, and the arch of her back seems to stretch.

[Asahina Sanaharu]

He now understood why Yuuwaku complained on how people saw her. It was an endearing sight indeed, and he found himself keeping up the rhythm without thought. Well, at least half of him was behind his biwa.
Until he noticed himself, and began to end the music.

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

As the music draws to a close, the cadences making it clear that it will do so, Yuuwaku ends her dance and bows to Sanaharu. There is a slight sheen of sweat upon her brow, and her chest rises and falls with deepened breaths.

"That was...lovely."

[Asahina Sanaharu]

He puts the biwa aside, gets himself closer again to the table and bows as he can. "Thank you. Your dance was much more impressive. I wanted to play something that would be enjoyable to dance."

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

Still breathing deeply, heavily, Yuuwaku leans down. It's not far, admittedly, but it likely shifts some things in a way Sanaharu might not be accustomed to seeing.

"You succeeded, Sana-kun. You did, indeed."

[Asahina Sanaharu]

He looks and avoids looking, focusing on her face instead. "Thank you. I also wanted somehow to reflect on the situation we are in. How the days pass, but they cycle. Oh, here, here." He handles her a piece of cloth.

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

"Thank you," she says as she takes the cloth, dabbing her face, her throat, and just below where the kimono begins to open.

[Asahina Sanaharu]

This had to be intentional now. Of course it was intentional, you idiot.
He started to think and reconsider.
"Do you like to dance a rhythm in special, or a song?"

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

"Are you asking if I have a favorite dance?" Yuuwaku replies, setting the cloth aside and drawing a deep breath.

[Asahina Sanaharu]

"Yes, I am. I should know the information, I'm sorry, but it is not on my mind. Not right now."
He was pretty distracted.
