Meiko looks around the quiet streets of the village
"Time to find a ghost!"

The night is quiet....no ghost walks around a corner
"...Time to find a ghost more actively!"

Meiko goes through her pockets until she fins a fine bright powder that she sprinkles onto the ground in front of her before beginning a quiet chant.

Day 4 Commune Air kami, two raises for clarity, TN 20: 7d10o10k3 30

"Spirits of air, accept this humble offering and come forth to play, we have ghosts to find this day! Whether they be pale, sad or good, I need your help to find them in this neighborhood!"

And she bends down to blow the powder into the air

The air whispers, "How can I serve you, mighty samurai?"

Meiko bows respectfully

"I'm looking for someone to play with, someone special though, they're not really a human!"
Meiko's face scrunches up as she thinks of the best way to phrase this
"They're a spirit now, an old human spirit who came here long ago and now they're stuck here...or they're just sort of around, I guess. They have this on them."
She shows the kami a sketch of a Crane mon
"I think people have seen them around the village."

"They are not in this place, but they have been seen by a well nearby," the spirit said brushing through her hair.

Meiko jumps up and down, this was good news!
"Can you point me in the direction of the well?"

The breeze blows and Meiko runs with it, what sir shugenja didn't like a breeze. Onwards, to the well!

The well is empty this time of night, a few peasants sit by a building nearby and seem to be enjoying a nice night.

"Good evening! Have you seen any ghosts here tonight?"

"Ghosts? Samurai-sama!" one said as they all look at each other.

"Never, there are no ghosts here!"

Next stop, the well! Meiko bounds over and peers into the dark circle below.

She can see dark water far below, otherwise it seems an ordinary well.

Meiko squints before she has a great idea.

"I've got a great idea!"
Meiko whips out her scroll and chants for a brief moment before throwing both her hands to the sky above, her voice echoing with a deep boom not in keeping with the Shugenja's size.

"Moshi Moshi!"
And brilliant sunlight blazes down upon the well and the surrounding area.

The child does not respond, they just float in the water possibly face down.

Meiko hurriedly goes through her pouches until she finds a small nugget of a blue powder which she tosses into the well.
"Water kami, your humble servant requires help, can I convince you to take on a new form?"

A selection of water and sake cups around the square freeze and explode

Meiko refocuses on the spirits in the well itself

Thankfully they could, and the water in the well began to freeze....

For moment the child looked up with malice and then vanished shattering the ice and sending shards flying...

Meiko takes a small flurry of shards to the face and is sent sprawling onto her back
"....Kids these days."
Still, that had been a real ghost! How exciting! Meiko jumps back onto her feet, brushes the ice and dirt from her hair and bounces back to peer down into the well in case the grumpy child had left anything.

Shards of ice but at least she saw a ghost.

"Bye Ghost-san! It was nice meeting you!....Um, I'm always free if you want to talk."

With a smile on her face Meiko bounds off, though not before stopping by the peasants and telling them there had been a ghost in the well and their water was going to be chilled for a few days.
