It seems that in the time that Masao turned toward Hanatsuko's voice and then back to the fox, it was already gone. Feeling a bit like a spell had been broken, the soldier turns to his fellow humans.
"Good afternoon, Toritaka-san," he says smiling. Then the smile fades a bit as he looks at his clanmate. "And, Asahina-san, at the risk of sounding foolish in this company, may I ask what just happened here? For I saw and heard what happened, but I do not understand it," he adds honestly.
