[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"It certainly can be." He agreed, offering the young woman a smile. "I should likely keep that in mind, shouldn't I?"

"As for the events, well we lost no more to whatever that curse was. Which was fortunate, though I worry about the return of the Sea monster." He paused a moment. "Other then that things have been interesting. I admit to being involved in events larger then I expected to here."

"I hope your own clan weathered the occurrences well?"

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

Yuuwaku nods.

"There were some near misses," she says, "but misses are misses. You're right, though; this has been bigger than could have been anticipated.

"I imagine there will be talk of it for a long time to come."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"Pethaps among those that remember." Which didn't seem to be the majority. Though he'd maybe misinterpreted her words and added onto that sooner after.

"Though that doesn't exactly include the events of today. Which are sure to be burned into people's memories."

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

Yuuwaku nods again.

"As my captain says. But how does he fare, truly?"

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"Is that such an interesting question?" Shouji replied, shifting away from Yuuwaku and dipping his head towards more of the Shrine, an offer to walk rather then just stand around.

"If im truly honest, I suppose I should admit I'm tired."

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

"Is it strange to take interest in a person?" Yuuwaku asks as she falls in with him. "But I can understand you being tired. There has been much to do, and few enough attending to it."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"I suppose it's not and I must admit I'm curious as to how you are really doing as well." Tired as he or something else?

"But yes, much to do Indeed and more still. I think it will be quite a while before I get the chance to really rest." An amused smile pulled at the corner of his lips.

"Which i suppose means I seek what comforts I can until then."

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

"I fare well enough," Yuuwaku replies, "all things considered. At the least, I do not seem to have become ill, and that is a comfort.

"But as to comforts," she continues, smiling at him under the cover of the umbrella, "I have no doubt the captain has ease in finding them."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"It is, especially with the weather we have been having." He wasn't worried about catching a chill himself. It wasn't the first time the Captain had been out in the rain. Others he knew didn't have so rugged a constitution though.

"True enough, there is a wide variety of sake and tea across the Empire. As well as pleasant company to share it with. Then there is all the artistic endeavors one can view."

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

Yuuwaku nods. "And as to the art, it shows up in the most interesting places." She gestures around to the phalluses in the field. "Here, for instance. During the festival, I had not had the chance to peruse the statues. Now that I have, I see that each is individually made--some with more care, or perhaps earlier--and, like any good art, it leads a person to other thoughts."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"Oh?" He glanced at the statues around them. "Are you perhaps wondering if they are modeled after specific indiividuals?" He asked his tone perhaps a little teasing. "Or is it other things that come to mind?" They didn't make him particularly think anything lewd.

Other things here did, but that was not exactly what they were discussing. "I can't say I've ever been an expert on the arts, and I am curious what thoughts these might elicit."

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

"You come quickly to some thoughts I had, yes," Yuuwaku replies. "Who are the models? And whether to envy or pity their wives!"

She chuckles a bit at the last. "And one might consider carving styles, what kinds of stone are used, which details are included and elided, that kind of thing. Who might be such a person as to model so, to carve so? And on."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"Well, if the husband was even half this size, I may just pity them both." Shouji replied glancing at one of the larger statues. "Though I do wonder if it was wives that did the crafting."

"I suppose it is interesting." He mused after a moment. "Though I am uncertain if I'd ever want to be a model. Having my parts discussed centuries later is somewhat daunting."

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

Yuuwaku smiles.

"You see, Captain, art is in all places. One need only look and think.

"But I do not think you should be quite so daunted at the prospect of discussion." She winks at him.

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"I'll take your word on that, since you seem to be an expert on... Art." He replied his tone teasing.

"Though I an now begining to wonder how one presents a piece to a shrine like this." He walked over to one of the statues. "Do you knock on the door and give a grand gesture." He made a grand gesture as example.

"This is me, I thought you might have use of it."

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

Yuuwaku laughs at the jest. It may be rough in other company, but artists are notoriously...open to...unusual behavior.

"I would imagine that such a gesture would meet with laughter, indeed, my captain," Yuuwaku says. "Rather, I think a call would go out, and sculptors would answer it. Each has their own way of finding models, I am certain."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"That seems like the most likely solution." The Captain agreed with a smile. "I imagine some might even be the sculptors equivalent of a self-portrait." Even if it seemed a little boastful.

"On the subject of art, I suppose innever asked. Is dance the only field you pursue? Or maybe you're a poet or painter as well?"

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

"Both, actually," she replies, "although skilled in neither so much as in dance. Just as I am certain that the captain has other skills than seacraft, if perhaps not so developed due to less exercise and focus."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"There is certainly more the just seacraft a Captain needs to know, that's for certain." Shouji agreed with a nod. "Still I'm rather surprised that I landed on two of your other skills with a guess."

"It almost makes it seem like you're skilled in all manner of arts." He said with a shake of his head. Which really wouldn't be surprising.

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

"Oh, no!" Yuuwaku replies. "I'd not claim to be such a polymath as that. I dabble, but to claim any real skill...not outside those, not really.

"Though I am flattered you think so highly of me, my captain."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"You make it an easy thing to do, Kakita-san." Unlike some of her cousins. "You've been nothing but fine company every time we've talked."

"I am curious though. Any favored subjects to your paintings?" Shouji asked. "Lanscapes or portraits or something else?"

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

"For paintings, it's studies and sketches, mostly," she replies. "People are so interesting, really, and the beauty of nature can hardly be improved upon, although things can be accentuated."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

That probably made sense to someone with a broader knowledge of art then the Captain, but still he nodded. "Nature is something you sea plenty of when sailing, so I can understand that one. I certainly meet a lot of interesting people too." That came from all the traveling too.

"So I suppose I can understand what you're saying there a bit. "But I'm not really an artist more just an observer of such."

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

"Close attention is the beginning of artistic expression," Yuuwaku notes with the ring of someone reciting a long-studied lesson. "You cannot express yourself without knowing it, and you cannot know yourself without knowing others."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"Now you're sounding like a sensei." The Mantis replied a bit of amusement in his tone. "But it's a good lesson. One that I should remember." Not that he actually thought he would have much time for most artistic endeavors. Or that they would do well on the sea. Other then music of course.
