With a Wave [Day 2, LM]

Another morning, another journey out to somewhere she might practice the art of her sword. Yet when she got to the beach this morning she found herself captivated by the waves. Feeling the breeze come in from the sea she walked forward and lay her arms out on either side a little with palms open so she could feel the breeze and taste the salt. Using the sounds of the waves to gauge how far out she was she stopped when she'd gotten close and opened her eyes to look out over the water.
"Morning mom, wherever you are," she said, sighed with a smile and shook her head. Putting her hand down by her sword she undid it from her side, sticking her sheathed blade into the sand a bit so it'd stick up and left it there. Removing her footwear she lay it beside her blade and even undid the bottles that oft rattled against her side. All of them deposited in the one spot as she walked forward just enough so that the water occasionally came up to brush along her ankles but no deeper.

The beach was always nice to come to during the day. Thankfully it’s reputation kept people (read: Crane) away. But there was a ronin enjoying herself. Ronin were more Sen’s style, so she cautiously approached. Not far enough up to have her footwear get wet, but close enough to be heard.
“Water nice?”

Voice was calm, and so she was too. Looking back over her shoulder Yoko traced the voice and found Sen, squinting a little as the light caught in her eye at the angle she was looking. "Yea," she said, smiled, and looked back out toward the waves. "Wanna come feel it with me a while?"

Sen looked out towards the water and shrugged. It did seem nice, why not join in? She quickly took her shoes off and placed them near by where the ronin put her things. Sen eyed the blade sticking in the sand. Interesting way to keep a blade, she admitted.
“Hiruma Sen, by the way,” she said as she turned around and started to walk towards the ronin, finally getting her feet wet.

"Yoko," she said, her hand tapping her chest. Giving the Hiruma a little bow. Turning back toward the water she lay her hands on her hips instead, aiming to not take up too much space. "What brings you out all the way over here this morning, Hiruma-sama?

It was late morning, the appointed time, and Shitoru had a meeting to keep. He came from along the path and reached the beach. The surf was still tame, but the scent of the ocean was pleasing. He wished he was a painter or somesuch, but for now he'd have to merely be satisfied with the memory. Seeing the two samurai along the shore he bowed, but didn't interrupt.
He had training to do, which he began in earnest. The uneven footing of the sand was a pleasant change from the wood floor of the dojo. Training in a terrain one knew nothing about helped keep a state of mindfulness.

Naida arrived eating a rice ball and enjoying the scenery; The Kuni poking and prodding her had been annoying, but not especially so, even if it had delayed her breakfast. Which was the most important meal of the day, according to old Kairei at the temple back home, something she'd always taken to heart.
Spotting the Scorpion practicing steps on the sand she gave a slight bow as she walked up, "Straight to it, hm? Had your rice yet today, Bayushi-san?"

"I prefer it, if I can", Shitoru answered and sheathed his sword. He offered the Kitsuki a bow of his own. "This one has had rice, yes. A fine spread at the inn, if not for the Kuni performing their duty."
"I see Kitsuki-san is still partaking of Inari's blessing, would you prefer to wait? Conversation not being my true suit, but this one will do their best."

“The beach is nice and quiet most of the time.” She watched the ronin carefully as she moved, very curious. “How about you? What brings you out to the beach this morning?”

"Wanted a bit of quiet, nice place to practice, but uh.. got distracted by the waves a little," she chuckled, looking out over the waves with a pleasant sigh. "Guess I'm just enjoying the morning for a bit. No pressure to perform when it's just you that's expecting you to perform, eh?" she smirked, shaking her head again.

"No need for conversation; Eating and talking is such a bother, and I prefer to clear my mind before training. You finish your exercises and I'll finish this in no time."
She took another solid bite.

Sen rose an eyebrow at that and merely chuckled before responding, “I dunno, I find myself to be my own worst critic.”
She bent over, dipping her hands into the tide and placing her palms flat in the sand. “But relaxin’ is good for you. Workin’ yourself to wits end benefits no one other than your enemies.”

"When you get the chance, eh?" she steps forward a little more into the wave as it washes over. Turning about to face Sen. "Are you looking forward to the festivities, Hiruma-sama? I'm hearing there's something going on in a few hours? Seems like we're all in for.. well, something quite interesting," she chuckles.

“Oh the festival? Yeah, I’ve been participatin’ since I was old enough. It’s a local thing. Though, half expect half the guests to go bug eyed.” Sen looked up at the ronin, hands slipping into the sand underneath the waves. “Hope you’re fine with seein’ lots of people stripped down to their fundoshi. It’s kind of freeing in a way.”

"Huh-" she laughed, shrugged. "Guess I'll manage, eh? Interesting time of year to get a good half of your guests this year for certain. Doesn't seem something.." she chuckled and shook her head, "Crane are gonna have a hard time the next while."

“Crane and Imperials, yeah.” Sen nodded in agreement, shifting her hands through the sand before pulling out a shell from underneath. Inspecting it, Sen tilted her head with a slight frown, “The festivities will make them go all bug eyed.”

"Well, maybe not all the Imperials," she laughed, shaking her head at the thought. Waving it off though she shifted a bit. "Guess it might be a good thing before a marriage. Lives here all your life you're probably pretty familiar with everyone? Met one of the sons yesterday actually.. Hida Daichi, good man, know much more about him by chance?"

“Ehhhh. Not as much as you’d expect. Didn’t quite hang out with the other kids growin’ up. He’s a couple years younger than me to boot. He always seemed nice enough, though.” The Hiruma stood back up, pocketing the shell she found before dusting the wet sand off her fingers.

"Seems the decent sort.. hope things work out well for him. Just- she shook her head, "guess he'll be fine, eh?" she laughed a little, shook her head.
Glancing down, she gave a little nod toward Sen's hand as she picketed the shell, "Like to collect things, Hiruma-sama?" she asked with a little smirk.

Shitoru nodded agreement and swiftly drew his blade again, practicing in high guard stance, shuffling quickly back and forth, timing strikes moving forward and backwards where his feet felt steady purchase in the sand.

He could feel Naida's gaze on him as she finished her riceball, studying him closely with a soft gaze. Soon, the food was gone, Naida licking her fingers clean before walking closer.
"Thanks for the patience; You seem used to training on sand with that footwork, Bayushi-san."

"The dojo provides some purity", he said with another swift step and strike. "A controlled environ one can test the their skill and knowledge of the techniques alone...but it is a fool who relies only on that. You must train everywhere, any time one can, or order to have a true harmony with the sword."

"I could not have said it any better myself."
Daisho at her back, Naida stood with her arms crossed, watching some more.
"...so what did you have in mind anyways? Watch each other perform some kata, strikes and steps? I did not have a bokken or shinai to bring out here with me, otherwise."

“Ah, yeah. I like sea shells that end up on the beach. You gotta dig around for them, though.” She reached into her pocket and grabbed the shell, taking it out to show the ronin. “They’re neat.”

"Working along side another and comparing is a fine enough a time for this one, though there is no argument against assessments of other sorts." He bowed. "If you would like to begin, I would much like to see the Dragon kenjutsu."
