It had been days on the road, many more days than he expected and somehow, he had gotten lost on the only road into the region. He would have thought he was going mad and would have to return a failure when he finally found the border crossing and then rode furiously for the castle.

Looking fresh from the road he made his way to the courtyard to present the proclamations and discharge his duty and then perhaps find a bath. Yes a bath was definitely in order.

Please say this barbarous Crab village has a bath worthy of him.

It wouldn't do not to be here, not when Shouji had gotten word of the arrival of a Miya herald. Having slipped into his courtly attire, the Captain made his way towards the Castle courtyard.

There was a chance this declaration would be nothing, there was also a chance it would prove him right and change everything though.

Back in the castle, he would do well to report that the curse had ended. Kuni Junza would support him — he pretty much darted across the entrance after getting permission from the guards to search for the shugenja, crossed the court, and...

There was actually someone on that court.

No, sometimes soldiers were there resting as well.

There was actually someone worth meeting on that court.

He pauses on his tracks and bows deeply to the imperial, approaching him instead of continuing his path. What was he doing here?

The news of someone arriving from outside the village really confirmed that a new day had started, and Masao was eager to see what the word from the herald would be. Even if it's just common news, it's another ray of sunlight to clear away the clouds.

He's wearing a simple sky blue kimono with white obi, looking perhaps indistinguishable from other Crane bushi in the yard. But the others likely are not carrying fans tucked into their obi -- and certainly he's the only one with a flute tucked safely in his.

With a little wave Yoko would catch Shouji by the gate, give a smirk, and then walk in with him. Should he be willing. All the better to get her in there without much risk of the guards deciding to keep out those who were.. well, like her. Needed the space for the actual important people more often than not and she wanted to hear the words herself. For what it mattered.

Still, she'd only keep to her own thoughts until they found a moment. "Thanks, by the way. Guess we're.. moving forward now."

Hifumi arrived quickly. This had been expected. She needed to bear witness to whT would come. Keeping Dango calm as they waited, she looked around for Sutorenja.

Yoko received a polite nod from Shouji as she came up. "Perhaps." He replied noncommittedly. "There is a chance this is about something else after all." It was easy to tell he didn't believe that though.

"Well," she chuckled, shaking her head a little as she slipped her hand onto her hip. "Yea, but even then we're still moving forward, eh? Whatever was happening is done if we have him," she indicated toward the herald briefly, "here. If it comes up that what he has to say doesn't mean anything for what's important to us.. well, just means something else, eh?"

"Just.. glad I'll be here to hear it," she said, pleased with herself on that note.

Sutorenja was there but hanging back from the front, Ikeda Hiro nearby and Ishi as well.

Hiro just smirked, now reclaiming his birthright looking resplendent. Freshly shaved and removing the grime of the ronin life.

He approaches Masao with the usual deep bow. "Oh, Masao-ue, you are here as well. Have you eaten your portion of rice today?"
He looks around, or feign looking around.
"An imperial... And a Miya at that. I think he is here to deliver some kind of message. He is obviously waiting for the time to say something." He takes his own fan and opens it on a single gesture, gracefully, starting to talk in a lowered tone. "Perhaps he can be contacted after it?"

With the help of a clutch and looking severely ill, dehydrated, and bloodshot eyes, the young Otomo still makes to court. He does groan internally as his bones and muscles ache from the inside. Finding a spot in the shadows, the young Saisei leans down. He has his face covered with a scarf, trying not to draw too much attention so others would not feel sorry for him.

"Yeah." Shouji agreed simply, his eyes seeking out the two imperials in the crowd. If they were here they must of been expecting the same kind of news they were.

"It will be nice not to live the same day again and again." Repeating some of the same events.

Following Saisei, almost yojimbo like was Toritaka Hanatsuko. She was worried about the Otomo but her face showed little. She kept her falcon near but the dog was nowhere to be seen. She had left Sari in the Inn.

Yoko tracked the gaze, "Yea. Nice to know when there's a threat," she commented, but feeling a shift hooked her thumb in her obi and waited. Not much more than that to say, likely. Just a matter of listening.

The scarf, at least, helped with the sneezing. Hopefully.

“Good...” He takes a moment to soothe the pain, and resumes, “... morning, Toritaka-san. I hope Inari-kami has been kind.”

"Indeed, Asahina-san. I am blessed by Inari today -- as I hope you are -- and in fact I feel blessed by many of the Fortunes that today is clearly a different day than we've been living. The presence of the emperor's messenger," his fan is closed, and gently swept in the Miya's direction, "confirms that we have escaped the curse of time."

When the nikutai notices Saisei, he heads in his direction immediately, even forgetting to excuse himself or ask Sanaharu along.

"By the Fortunes, Saisei-san, what..." he keeps his voice to a strong whisper, and he stops as he notices Hanatsuko close in attendance. "Something with the curse?" He asks, voice still low but tone almost accusatory.

"Always." The Captain agreed, letting his eyes drift over the others present. Who they were talking with and who they seemed close to. He almost gestured for the Monkey to come join them, but decided to wait for the moment.

"Still need to look into that Sea Monster. May be it returned to the sea though."

"Oh, I thought not you were not aware of the situation of the curse. I knew it from morning, when I woke up." And saw the pretty mess my bedroom was left behind in, although this one was a mess sweet. "Although, I must say, I'm grateful I brought more kimonos than I thought I would ever use. Imagine if I had to repeat my clothing of today with one during the curse, such a disaster it would be." He comments on the top of his vanity.

When Masao's heard turns, Sanaharu's turns too. His raised on him an alarm... They were on Crab lands, after all, and once everyone got tested...

Such dishonor to think an Imperial could even be like that, Sanaharu! He quickly dismissed the thought from his mind, although a meeting with Kuni Junza now proved itself to be even more needed.

He approaches the imperial with fast, short steps, and a deep bow. "Otomo-sama... As always, it is a blessing to meet you again. Have you eaten your portion of rice today?"

Fishing into her things she dug around a little while Shouji glanced about, and thought. Twirling her pipe in hand she brushed it off against her chest. Looking back up to Shouji she quirked a brow, "Oh, yea. Hope so. Guess I started hoping that was part of the curse.." she popped the pipe in her mouth for a moment so she could lean her head against her hand, "shit.. can't even keep track of everything that happened and didn't," she half-chuckled but shook her head, cutting the chuckle short.

"I am blessed." She frowned. "You are supposed to be in bed." She mother's the Otomo. Being the 3rd oldest in a family of 6 siblings gives her some mothering instinct besides taking care of her pets.
"Good Morning Crane sama."
She nodded to Masao. "Lady Kuni helped. Otomo sama should be resting. He had a long night." She whispered.

Masao has no parenting instinct, but he knows something about protecting courtiers -- even from themselves.

"Otomo-san," he begins, stepping close enough to the other man that he will feel slightly discomforted. He does it to keep his voice as low as possible: quiet, but stern. "I am sure we are indebted for the sacrifice you've made to... look like this. But do you really believe your duty is best served trying to be on your feet this way? Before an imperial cousin?" Masao almost hisses, looking sideways toward the front of the courtyard.

"Please, let one of us escort you back to your room. The others can speak to Otomo-sama and Miya-san, assure your absence is not misunderstood."

"I don't believe so? Some might think it's related but from what I can understand the beast was here before the curse started." A soft frown crossed him features for a moment. "Either way I'll need to look into it just in case." There needed to be a funeral too. That would be a private affair for his crew though.

"You're right though... It's weird to say the least... Having memories of things that seemed to not have happened at all. At least I remember most of them though, so that's close enough to it beign real."

The Otomo notices a flock of people coming his way and tries to lift himself up the best he can: which is very poorly. He does, though, stand on his feet, and barely provides another bow. "Hai. Good morning, Masao-sama."

Gladly, the same bow was good enough to extend it to Sanaharu. He opens a thin, appreciative smile under the scarf, and greets, "Asahina-san. Long time no see. I hope Inari-kami has been kind to him as well. I couldn't eat much, but it was sufficient to make me stand up."
